What will all of our fans say? Chavis wasn't exactly setting the world on fire with his schemes. He benefitted from having great players. Steele has learned under Tom Osbourne, Bobby Bowden, and saban. I'm sure he's learned from his mistakes along the way as well and is hungry to prove he is a good DC. I'm going into this open minded and if he can somehow help get us over the top and into title contention again, this will be a good hire. The cupboard isn't bare here, far from it actually

They will say (a) they knew Steele was a great hire from the beginning or (b) the only reason Steele was good was because he worked with Nick Saban.

I wish I could be that optimistic
But going off of his coaching career this is an awful hire.

We can only hope

its just discouraging to see LSU go from hiring "Proven" coaches to giving someone a chance to prove he can be a good DC

No one will admit that they were wrong. The better he is the more intense the attacks will become.

Lol what?

Chavis was widely regarded as 1 of the top DCs in all of college football and was highly respected for 20years...

Him doing a great job still wouldn't make this a good hire. It'd be a lucky hire.

That's the way you have to look at it and stay positive. Everyone is jumping off the ship before it even leaves the shore- Wait and see before thinking this is Malveto again...

Right now I'm pissed. But I'm still going to give him a chance. I'd love for him to shut everyone up.

Steele might be a steal, but you have to admit LSU could have done better.

I would be excited.
