Tickets for championship game now <$400

Ticket prices for Monday's game are going for below face and have dropped an average of $300 in the last week.
Sting tickets at the AAC (part of the "AT&T championship events") are going for $4.95.
Is it due to Oregon, the weekday, or a sign of the times given the terrible attendance at all bowls?

It's also the fact that Ohio State and Oregon have played three neutral site post season games in a row.
Ohio State is gonna dominate the crowd though just due to numbers of fans.

Well, I can sit at home, piss in my own bathroom with no line, eat much better and cheaper food, not fly or drive to the event, pay for a hotel, and a seat, and watch it on my 55" HD TV that looks fricking phenomenal. I can rewind if I want to see a play, and pause it when I do take that aforementioned piss.
That said, if it was ASU, TCU, or LSU in the game... I would be there.

That's embarrassing
In 2010/2011 I had to pay a grand for upper deck

One of the effects of the new system. Most fans cannot afford to go to two different sites for the playoffs.

The prices are too high even without the conference championship games and the semifinals.
At some point there will be a price adjustment. There just isn't enough entertainment dollars around to justify the prices. The market should correct.
However, this has been the case with bowls for awhile, and they haven't seemed to catch on, so who knows how long it takes.

And people think adding even more playoff games is a good idea lol

No, just have the games leading up to the championship at on-campus venues.

8 teams, top 4 seeded teams play home games first round. That's the only way they could expand while keeping prices to see your team play 3 playoff games reasonable. But if they expand the playoffs, that'll never happen

Arlington isn't a city people want to visit either.

That was my first though when the palyoffs were announced is that most fan won't be able to go to a Conference championship, semi final game and Championship game something will change when attendance number drop

I don't think the game being in Arlington has anything to do with it. It's the fact that it's asking fans to fork over the dollar for too many neutral site games.

Face for the Alabama/LSU game was 300

I have been wondering about this for awhile. Two bowl trips is a pretty tall order for most people given how expensive the trips are

People are going to choose the semifinal games. First, it's during a holiday. Second, you know your team is there, as opposed to taking a risk it makes it to the championship when it may not. Third, you have more time to prepare and make plans (3.5 weeks from the playoff announcement to the semis, as opposed to 1.5 from the semis to NCG). And once you spend a boatload of cash on plane ticket/hotel/game ticket/entertainment, you really don't want to do it again less than two weeks later. When there weren't semifinal games, only the first of those (game not on a holiday) was a consideration, and since the game was typically on a Monday night, most people could get away with missing only two days of work.
I also think it is due partly to Oregon, though. Its fanbase is definitely a lot smaller/less rabid than some of the other bluechip programs.
ETA: Also, Dallas is not ideal. When ND played Bama in Miami, I went down there without a ticket (found one less than an hour before gametime), knowing I'd basically have an awesome trip down there with friends even if I couldn't get into the game. New Orleans is pretty similar, and I think even Zona and southern California can be really fun, too. Dallas? It's cold, and just not a great destination for vacationing. I'm sure there would be a lot more people willing to take a chance without a ticket at one of the previous four BCS spots (which obviously drives up demand and therefore price) because even if you don't get one, you can have a great trip.

it's not dallas though. if it was in the city, it'd be different. there's really not much around att stadium because the ballpark and six flags take up all the room.
