I think Malone earned more playing time.

I thought he played solid defense in there tonight. Switched and recovered well on the high pick and rolls and came up with a key deflection leading to a steal at the end. Didn't turn it over on the offensive end. Quarterman was the man though tonight. I think he needs the ball in his hands in close games. Had a few turnovers with the errant pass up 4 and lost the ball as the shot clock expired but he was solid on the offensive side otherwise. He needs to teach Mickey and Martin what a pump fake is. They could use that in their arsenal.

He's still swatting at every ball on defense. He will foul out in 3 minutes doing that.

He played much better at the end of the game. No he isn't ready for 20 minutes a game, but he is improving so that's promising at least. We will need him, especially next year.

He looks lost but plays his arse off. At least he tries.

In the lockeroom, TQ gets game ball, and Malone gets this:

Just kidding. Dude came up with the steal near the end of the game to keep us in it.

Did you watch the game? He played 16 meaningful minutes and played adequately. That's far above expectations.

But he isn't. He was playing spot time because foul trouble and match ups.

I wouldn't say he needs more minutes but he at least proved that he can give our bigs a spell.

Dude almost fouled out with only 16 minutes of playing time.
All he does is throw his hands up in the air and swat

He altered shots retard. He shut down the easy inside baskets. Give the young man his due. He played a key part in the win tonight.

definitely had a key part last night. But more playing time? I'm not so sure. Besides altering shots and being tall, he doesn't do too much. Like I said, even if he was given more PT, he'd foul out. 20+ minutes is just not compatible with his playing style.

And by "shut down the easy inside baskets" I think you mean "gave Georgia 8 free throw attempts"

For me it is OK if he fouls out in 16 minutes. He will rarely play for more than that time frame and Odo or Elbert can replace his remaining minutes if any. It is called getting the staters rest and developing some depth without hurting the overall performance much. I thought Darcy did that against UGA.

Also putting UGAs bigs on the foul line is better than point blank shots at the rim.
