I shoot an 8 point this morning at 200 yards that was following a doe. He jumps straight up when I shoot, doesnt do the lung kick, just straight up. He then wheels around and runs in the cutover. He was in a big water hole when I shot, I find alot of hair floating on the water but no blood obviously. I follow the trail he ran in on (very thick cutover, this trail was his only option) and only find one drop of blood about the size of an eraser with what looks like to be fat in the blood. This blood drop was about 20 yds from where he was shot. Thoughts?

What color hair? Sounds a little gutty

Was it white hair? Sounds like you may have shot low and just clipped him. Sucks, but doesn't sound like it will be lethal.

what would you say he scored? 150....160 maybe?

dick shot. Tips are darker than the shaft.

Big ole Dick mEasuring contest and all Jack Daniels is doing is trying to find his deer. Jack, I hope you find it and its a good one. I would take a 200 yard shot 10/10 times if it was clear and the deer was standing still.

Very important questions:
Where were the crosshairs on the deer when you shot?
How is your gun sighted in at 200 yds?
The presence of white hair can be deceiving. The last deer I killed had a lot of white hair and NO brown hair where it was standing when shot. I was worried about a brisket shot. But it turned out I hit the heart.
