Bonnie and Clyde memorial in Gibsland, LA. Should be there right around the time your kids need to take their first bathroom break.

We have five small children. We find it convenient and beneficial to stop at children's museums and science museums on long road trips. Once you know your particular route, search for any science or children's museums on that path.
We like these because they allow the kids to be kids--running, playing, exploring--affording the children a nice respite from being strapped down in a seat belt. We also like them because they are not weather dependent, have clean bathrooms, and are filled with knowledgeable locals who can recommend restaurants or other points of interest. Of course, you could always grab something to eat at the museum, but I wouldn't recommend it.
If you have reciprocal memberships at your local children's museums or science museums, your admission is complimentary or reduced, assuming the facility you're visiting is a member of the Association of Children's Museums or Association of Science and Technology Centers. It's easy to look up online. There is also an Association of Zoos and Aquariums which also offers reciprocal benefits to participating members. A good friend of mine tells me there is an amazing science museum in Ohio (COSI, I believe) where she takes her children each time she goes to see family.

Ohio is just a small part of the trip. We are only planning on being there two days to visit with her elderly grandparents and extended family. The "trip" will be all the spots along the way.

Do I just google search "childrens museums between here and there" or search the towns website for info?

Ohio truly is a trashy place, with trashy people that are unemployed.
