It looks so awesome when it works, but like the midrange jumper in basketball, it's not a wise play statistically for the majority of players.

It's like the seemingly obligatory run into the middle on first and goal - even if you're on the 9 yard line. There's some coaching law that says you've got to waste a down up the middle. The same coaching law says that you absolutely must attempt one or two fade route passes on second and third down. Fourth down is the FG attempt.

I hate the fade. I wish someone would do a statistical study that shows how many time the pass is incomplete or intercepted versus the number of times that it results in a catch.

It's so low-percentage you'd think that coaches are betting on an interference call, problem is that it's so low-percentage refs won't give it to them.

I've been a big proponent of this for a while now.

Eta: meaning anti-fade route.

It is a dumb call - as a LaTech fan, we were burned by this call in our latest matchup against aTm. We had a chance for overtime and blew it in a fade call.

The problem was the pass did not go to a future NFL receiver - the fade pass went to a walk on white kid that had not been in the flow of the game.

You have to give the QB multiple options on that two point play.

Umm.. the fad route is no different than any other route. Needs a QB to execute
