Do not take your guitar to GC for any other work besides a general setup.

I had my tele refretted not long ago by a guy in Dutchtown who does guitar work as a side job. He told me he was near Cortana and, on a whim, decided to drop his guitar off to have something done to his headstock (don't remember what he said the job was). He said he had a feeling he might be making a mistake but took it in there anyway. And the tech wound up ruining his neck. My guy said he would never make that mistake again.

Also, I know many guitar techs can be condescending assholes (they're a lot like IT guys). But I value customer service. I prefer a guy that I personally like working on my guitars. And the tech over at GC that I've spoken with came across as mostly an uninterested a-hole. And I believe those are the types of guys who don't give a shite about your gear if you're not a high valued pro.

I went to GC to get my bass all reset up after letting my cousin use it for a year, the G-Tech there charged me $68 and told me it would be at least 3 days. I dropped it off and went and sat in my car and realized how bad I was about to get screwed so I went back and after making up a story about low funds, was given my guitar back. I went down Florida to Zeagler's and within 20 minutes Mr. Eric had my guitar back to 100% playing condition with a price tag of $5. I'll never give GC another chance to price rape me again, and all of my musician friends have been told this story.

It is unreal the difference between the commercial monster that is GC and the local bizness of Zeagler's. No experience with Tim's but I've only heard good things.
