Amen on the gaftops > rainbows. I had this dimwitted view that a rainbow trout, seeing how he makes a living in those beautifully clean, pristine streams that look they belong in a beer commercial, would actually taste worfa shite. They, son, are HORRIBLE.
I'd eat gar balls, gasper gou, big boned buffalo (hell, tiny boned buffalo fish for that matter), an 80# greasy butted catfish caught down river from the lower 9, or much else anything with gills over one of those cat food taste, beautiful for nothing things.
MAYBE, I'd pick him over Mudcat or choupique.
See, here's the thing. Yall have genetically retarded tastebuds up north. Over time, they start telling your brain that things like rainbow trout, bratwurst, and other yankeefied victuals are fit for human consumption. Throw salmon - nothing more than a bigger, redder meated rainbow in that same mix.
Ever hear of the rainbow trout population being decimated by a chef throwing him on a hot skillet, and blackening him? Didn't think so. Know way? He's not fit for an unretarded palet.

No, but salmon were once in trouble around here. They've had to work hard to bring back decent numbers.
And also....

Trust this, grill them In direct, make slits in the skin with lime chili powder butter on the skin. These fish can take some time to get done, awesome ,

That there was funny.
I hate Salmon and Rainbow Trout....
But I think it's unfair to speak for other peoples taste buds.
My wife and son love smoked salmon. I can't stand that shite. But I will buy it for them.
