Not that I don't think Harbaugh would be a great coach, but what is all this talk about going away from "the michigan man" approach.

Basically I interpret it as the fact that our "interim" AD and the search committee want to get away from the idea that our coach needs to be someone with previous ties to the program/to the midwest/ plays Michigan football. That sort of idea is exactly what led to Brady Hoke being hired, and this time around we need to get the most qualified/interested candidate regardless of previous ties.

It just so happens that by far and away the best candidate is someone with extremely strong ties to the program.

Keep this rumor in mind when the 49ers lose to the Seahawks on Sunday:
quote:

NFL brokers a trade between the 49ers and Raiders for Harbaugh

Raiders give Harbaugh roster control

NFL allows Raiders to move to LA

Value of Raiders goes through the roof

Davis family agrees to sell the Raiders

NFL brokers an ownership deal with high profile LA based owner

NFL is rid of the Davis family forever

Harbaugh becomes the centerpiece of the "new" LA Raiders

There are three teams that can readily leave their stadium deals: Raiders, Rams and Chargers
Raiders and Rams share the Colisseum until Kroenke builds his new stadium in Inglewood. New Raiders owner brokers deal to refurb LA Colisseum. NFL gets an NFC and an AFC team in the #2 media market

Keep in mind that the most current relocation fee for one team was ~$250mm but with the new valuations for pro teams (after the Clippers sold for $2bb) the relocation for one team could be 2x that. The other owners would be getting either two relocation fees (Rams and Raiders/Chargers) or one relocation fee (Rams) and one sale fee (Raiders) to split amongst themselves
