What McGrath would you have done? Would you have maintained the subsidy and if so how? Would you have raised taxes? Why not offset the subsidy with user fees--ie tuition increases? Sounds logical to me.

Tuition is still very cheap at a Louisiana school.

Those are important issues to deal with. You had a decision between raising taxes or cutting the the budget for LSU. They both sound unpopular but voters would get behind either one if you could justify it with the right reasons. Don't be a coward and say the budget wasn't cut.
