Yeah, too bad TCU, Alabama, and Oregon are all undefeated...

I find it funny that the "new and improved" system may leave out Baylor in favor of TCU, which would be a bigger slight than anything the BCS ever did.
Posted on 12/1/14 at 11:35 pm to Yellerhammer5
If Baylor and TCU finish with the same record, how does Baylor not get the head to head tie breaker to be the Big 12 Champs?

Baylor and Oregon need to lobby to play for the NCAA 7-on-7 championship, because that's all either of you would ever have a shot at winning.
Did you watch the Iron Bowl?

Everyone but FSU has lost a game. Baylor beat TCU

I honestly don't see how it's a debate. What's more important, quality wins or quality losses? There isn't anyone in contention with a better win than Baylor.

If only the Big 12 had a title game to straighten all this out...
Posted on 12/2/14 at 12:13 am to CajunAlum Tiger Fan
I would be pissed if i was baylor and got left out, which will happen if everyone wins this weekend.
the Big 12 screwed them by not naming them Champs over TCU, who they beat head to head.

Because they will have a more impressive win than Alabama, FSU, Oregon, TCU, or Ohio State.
lol
Baylor would have wins against
TCU-Top 6
KSU-Top 15 (they'd fall from 12 after losing)
@ OU-Top 25
Loss to 7-5 @WVA
Bama would have wins over
MSU-Top 8
@LSU-Top 25
Auburn-Top 18
Mizzou-Top 20
They also beat 7-5 WVA who Baylor lost to.
Bama's lose would be @ top 15 Ole Miss.
Ohio State would likely be comparable. OSU would has wins over
@MSU-Top 10
Wisconsin-Top 15
@ Minn-Top 25
A worse lose than Baylor since theirs was at home to 6-6 VA Tech.
TCU would have wins over
Minn-Top 25
OU-Top 25
KState-Top 15
They too would have defeated the team BU lost to. And their loss was obviously to Baylor.
Oregon woudl have wins over
MSU-Top 8
@ UCLA-Top 15
@ Utah-Top 25
Arizona-Top 15
Their loss would have been home against Zona, but they'd have avenged that one.
Based on that the only team that has a clearly worse resume is TCU due to the fact that they lack a win over a top 10 team. Baylor won't be able to overcome Bama or OSU if they all win out.
And obviously they won't be ahead of FSU even though they have lucked their way all season long. Althought they'd have wins over top 20 clemson, top 20 GT, top and 20 UL. Certainly not up there with any other teams in contention, but without a loss they are obviously in.

The committee will probably put TCU at 4, which means Baylor will have a win against a #4 team. No other team has that.
Minnesota won't be ranked. They lost this weekend to Wisconsin and ended the season at 8-4.
And, thank you for making my point. TCU probably has the least impressive wins out of all the one-loss teams.
There is no defensible argument for Ohio State jumping Baylor if Baylor beats Kansas State.

And there isn't any for Baylor over Osu. They're pretty much a dead heat and OSU will go over Baylor based on brand name.
They'll each have three top 25 wins and both have a crappy loss. Minnesota will likely stay in the top 25. Barely though. They won't drop all the way out from 18.
Michigan state and tcu are on the same level. Just because they lost to two top 6 teams doesn't mean they're a less impressive won than tcu. The msu win was also on the road.

Not that it matters, but yes they probably will be.
They're going to drop 8 spots for playing a competitive game on the road against a Wisconsin team that the committee thinks is good? Nah.

How so? Michigan State is a 2-loss team; TCU has one loss.

And?
LSU has 4 loses yet they are better than a 1 lose Marshall team and probably better than a 3 lose OU team....2 loss Mizzou team etc.
Michigan State lost to two very good teams in Oregon and Ohio State. No reason just prop TCU up over MSU as some significantly greater win because 2 versus 1 lose.
It also further evens out since the MSU win was on the road and the TCU win was at home. And while Baylor won and that's what matters it also took an epic collapse for it to happen. I think that plays in the back of folks minds too.

OH! I see what you're saying. Ohio State's wins are more impressive than both TCU and Baylor's wins because Ohio State beat Michigan State on the road and Baylor beat TCU in Waco. Gotcha. I don't know. I can't imagine the committee putting Ohio State over both TCU and Baylor.

I can.
Let's compare schedules of all three teams if all have one loss:
Baylor (11-1) - Opponents' Record (61-65)
SMU (0-12)
Northwestern State (FCS)
Buffalo (5-6)
Kansas (3-9)
Iowa State (2-10)
Kansas State (9-3)
Oklahoma (9-3)
Oklahoma State (5-7)
Texas Tech (4-8)
Texas (6-6)
TCU (11-1)
Lost to West Virginia (7-5) by double digits
TCU (11-1) - Opponents' record (64-68)
Samford (FCS)
Minnesota (8-4)
SMU (0-12)
Kansas (3-9)
Iowa State (2-10)
Kansas State (9-3)
Oklahoma (9-3)
Oklahoma State (5-7)
Texas Tech (4-8)
Texas (6-6)
West Virginia (7-5)
Loss was to Baylor (11-1)
Ohio State (12-1) - Opponents' record (87-70)
Navy (7-5)
Kent State (2-10)
Cincinnati (9-3)
Michigan State (10-2)
Michigan (5-7)
Maryland (7-5)
Rutgers (7-5)
Penn State (6-6)
Illinois (6-6)
Minnesota (8-4)
Indiana (4-8)
Wisconsin (10-3)
Loss was to Virginia Tech (6-6)
Best nonconference win: Ohio State (Cincinnati)
Best loss: TCU (Baylor)
Best conference record: Ohio State (9-0)
Won conference: Baylor, Ohio State
Overall strength of schedule (FBS only): Ohio State (87-70)
That makes the score:
Ohio State 4
TCU/Baylor 1 each
Or to rank the criteria:
Best nonconference win: Ohio State, TCU, Baylor
Best loss: TCU, Baylor, Ohio State
Best Conference Record: Ohio State, Baylor/TCU
Conference Champion: Ohio State/Baylor
Strength of Schedule: Ohio State, TCU, Baylor
No FCS opponents: Ohio State

Baylor wins out then they deserve in the final 4
Ohio State isn't a top 4 team
1. Alabama
2. Oregon
3. Florida State
4. Baylor

No they don't. I've just outlined why in an earlier post.

Ohio State isn't a top 4 team anymore, sorry.
If they beat Wisconsin they will be.
Here's the bottom line: If you're in a weak conference (Big Ten, Big 12, ACC), you'd better go unbeaten in conference or you are not in contention.
Ohio State and Florida State have both done that. TCU and Baylor have not.
In terms of overall conference strength:
1 - SEC
2 - PAC 12
3 - Big Ten
4 - ACC
5 - Big XII

Outline whatever you want.
NOBODY wants to see Ohio State without a QB play Bama.
