30-06 shoots the 180 grain the best.

Not a bad idea at all.

Billet lower and uppers are expensive through.

BCG & Barrel $400
Upper and lower $550+
LPK $100
Stock $50
Rail $75

Total: More than what I anticipate the Mutant costing.

For deer, what ever soft point bullet it shoots the best.

Maybe yours does, a lot of it depends on your barrel's rate of twist. Mine shoots 150 gr Hornady SST really well, but pretty much all new guns are guaranteeing 3 shot groups at 1" MOA or better out the box.

I brought it to gun store and they told me the bullets were/ will warp my barrel. I changed to hornady and after a half box my rifle was in again.

Thank you Tikka for starting the trend of guaranteeing regular production rifles.

Idk, but there's always comedy at the gun counter. There's some real physicist out there.

There is some comedy in this thread.

I will try to add some value. If anyone wants to see the potential of a 30-06 google MontanaMarine and 30-06. Go through the threads on other forums about him and another guy trying to replicate 300 WM performance from the 30-06. I can tell you they got really close.

I meant using the upper you build on an existing ar15 lower you have.

I shoot my great granddad's 742 Woodmaster and it likes the Remington 220 grain very much.

It's an old gun and shoots the heavy stuff more accurately.

Need a dedicated lower. I hunt with my other lowers and do not want to notify anyone when bringing hunting ARs to camp. Want a dedicated sbr lower to stay in LA.

Fortunately, I live and hunt in LA so I didn't even think of that possibilty. You can fill out the form 20, at least I remember it being 20, electronically for free and apply for hunting purposes for the length of the season every year and still use one sbr lower. You will be good to travel into that state, with the sbr, for free, for the length of the season.

You can file for up to 6 months at a time. Id rather just not worry about it. I travel all across the state for work but never come close to a state border. Carry my SBR daily and swap to my 16" for hunting season. Much easier and only 1 extra lower..
