Just like the overall distribution of income. It's no problem if the overall pie is growing. In music, I suspect it is.
But whether it is growing at rate fast enough to support artists, I have no idea.
But the market is far more open than it used to be (access to anything but live music no longer completely controlled by record companies), so that's good for listeners at least.
