The only time I can remember it being close to this bad from a fan enthusiasm perspective is during the last stages of the Dinardo era. I keep telling myself we have some great young players but the coaching (or lack thereof) is really concerning me. Miles looked the most dejected I've seen him in the Arky post game interview. Age considering, I have this feeling his tank is starting to run dry. I know a lot of LSU fans don't like Miles and welcome this but in spite of the money he makes, I feel bad for him. Just my thoughts on a Monday afternoon.

Why do you feel bad for him? He has only himself and his staff to blame for this mess.

This is what happens in Baton Rouge when your tank runs dry...

I remember attending the last game of the year (Arkansas) and playing for a low tier bowl game and there was only 45,000 in the stands.

What year was this? We did not go bowling.....

I think Mile's is just as baffled by Jennings as we are. My guess is he's not playing like he practices. They've probably been waiting for him [Jennings] to turn the corner with his game performance, and it's finally dawning on Miles and Co. that this isn't going to happen. Unfortunately, it may be a bit too late.

I think he is emotionally drained, and IMO rightfully so. His mother died and that is tough no matter your age. We will never know what player issues he is having to deal with. Very emotional game with Ole Miss, then yet another heartbreaker to Bama. Not to mention he has to deal with absolutely the worst fan base in the SEC (and that hurts to type). I'm sure some jackass will comment and say that's why he gets paid the big bucks, and that's true to an extent.

I felt bad for Miles once.

Then I remembered he receives about $100k every 2 weeks after taxes and I got over that quickly.

No reason to feel bad for the guy. He's become a rich man doing the thing he loves the most. He's had a lot of success, too. If he were to retire now, he'd be the winningest coach in LSU history behind only McClendon, with a much better winning percentage than McClendon. He'd have coached 1 of only 3 national championship teams at LSU. He has been at the pinnacle of the sport as a head coach. If the game has passed him by, at least he was able to accomplish more than 99% of coaches out there while he had his time.

My unsettling feeling is not about Les Miles... he gets big bucks to deal with anything that comes his way.

I'm unsettled that he's now driven this program into high-priced mediocrity, with not enough vision and smarts to turn it around.

I like Les Miles, the person.
I don't like his current coaching philosophy.
He was part of some of the great high moments in LSU football history.
He has reached a point where there seems to be nothing left.
He doesn't seem really hungry. His teams just don't have that intangible something that makes for consistent success.
I wish he would graciously step down at the end of this season, so we could all celebrate his tenure and honor the man's truly great achievements as HC of LSU.

Saturday was a terrible, terrible, terrible game.

That said, the overreaction on this board is unbelievable.

And you should. After LSU hangs 6 points on A&M and loses, your feelings will continue in its unsettling ways. The program is done. Les had fricked it up and until he leaves, will continue fricking it up.

I think the fanbase as a whole needs to decide on what is acceptable on average. If they are ok with 9-10 wins as the peak season, Les is more than capable of doing that. On the other hand, the sample size is big enough now to show that Les cannot recruit and develop a QB good enough to challenge for titles. 2011 was a fluke because the defense and special teams that year were once in a generation. If the 2011 team had any other defense from Les' tenure, the season would have been similar to the other Jefferson QB'd seasons.
