I was watching the game at some friends' house Saturday, against my better judgement. I really don't usually like watching with people or in public because it's too much distraction and my behavior is sometimes embarrassing. But they're moving in two weeks so it was one of our last chances to hang out

Well the wife would not stfu. Her husband told her what an important game it was and to stop talking fifty times. She's like lemme say this one thing. It's important. Then proceeds to ask him about going on a vacation in February. And she kept reading facebook posts and asking us to look at pics and videos

I wanted to choke her. I can't imagine having to deal with that every game. Why do they even act like they like football and are watching the game? Why not just go watch the real housewives or some shite in another room?

Women should be seen & not heard. Honestly the only reason she should be in the vicinty of the TV when the game is on is to bring snacks and beer. Other than that, her arse should not leave the kitchen.

what i don't get is why these people (typically women, but in large groups sometimes guys) even show up to watch the game

i bet you the girl in the OP also demands "me" time from the husband and completely misses the opportunity here

My GF does this during sporting events that don't involve my teams. So, for example, Game 7 of the WS. She generally likes my teams and watches so there aren't any shenanigans when it matters most. But she'll do it if she doesn't think I care about the game/doesn't appreciate the significance.

I have a uncle that I refuse to watch any sporting event with. He's drunk and obnoxious the entire event whatever it may be. I've wanted to slap the frick out of him so many times it's not even funny.

I tell my girlfriend that I hid a Pumpkin Spice Latte somewhere in the backyard. Keeps her busy for hours.

I watch football alone in the dark sipping cheap whiskey with a loaded revolver. So no.

I'd rather not be home for games-especially for games like this weekend and I really try to stay busy without bothering the husband. It's like an unwritten rule of respect.

I don't have any problems but I also don't get into games like you

I probably watched about 60% of the plays Saturday, other time was playing with kids outside, visiting with friends, etc.

Maybe she wanted to hang out with everyone and not be secluded in another room.

I tend to just nap through the games.
