Watts and Steele don't exactly have warm and fuzzy feelings about the way the Republican Party treated them.

So an intelligent, successful black man is called this by his own race..

quote:

"coon", "not connected with African America roots", "sellout", "another Clarence Thomas", "used to look up to him but not after this", etc

And everything wrong with the black community is white people's fault?

There is but there isn't.

It is a complicated issue that defies easy disposition. I'm hoping the boiling crab syndrome talk starts to take hold. What many people refer to as "the black community" is the pot of boiling crabs and people like TbirdSpur, BHP, Stacy Dash, Herman Cain, are the crabs who are trying to escape being pulled back into the pot with the other crabs.

Yeah, buddy, I just called you an escaping crab - wanna make something of it?

But we get megadoses of Sharpton and Jackson, now, don't we? The race baiting industry has set blacks back at least 20 years, if not more. That is mostly blacks fault - for doing the race baiting and following the race baiters. White liberal "shepherds" also bear a good bit of blame.

so now you're saying its blacks faults for having heighten sensitivity to racial incidents?

Please clarify? It's as if you are disregarding growing up in the 80s (when those guys came to power), 20 years removed from a culture of nooses, desegregation, hate, fear, etc., as not having an effect on worldviews and community formats.

I really think this board, and segments of this nation, downplay the severe lack of atonement and repent that this nation endure after its legally lifted the chains of oppression shackled to blacks.

Instead of being contrite, we humiliated blacks with every chance we got, from reconstruction to the 1960s. The remnants still linger today.

But yet it's blacks faults for race baiting, and for seeing the world the way some do.

To the point where a racial incident is manufactured or blown all the f*ck out of proportion. This isn't the late 19th century - heck, it isn't even the 1960s. It's 2014. White on black violent crime is statistically zero. Every single victim becomes a national celebrity.

I'm not dismissing the individual cases, but the race hustlers immediately run and make this national media case about it, implying this is a widespread problem - it ABSOLUTELY isn't. You, SS, have a greater chance of getting hit by a meteorite than you do of being the victim of a violent crime perpetrated by a white criminal, or even a white cop.

On the other hand, we both have a small, yet statistically significant chance of being victimized by a black criminal in our lifetimes. People living in black neighborhoods in Detroit, NYC, D.C., Chicago, L.A., N.O., Dallas, etc., have it even worse.

But lets go crazy, loot and burn because of Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown - both tragedies, no doubt, but it is this invocation of an oppressed environment that is 50 years, 100 years, 150 years past (I stage it that way because that is effectively your CR movement, Jim Crow and Slavery, respectively).

Dwelling on that does NOTHING to solve problems. It only digs into festering wounds and does not allow them to heal.

600k dead isn't atonement?

repent that

Trillions in anti-poverty programs (worthless though they have been, in actual effect) isn't repentance?

I've tried to engage you on this in the past, and you return to this implication of more to be done. While I might agree we need to make sure that equal opportunity is out there, continuing to focus on race and past racial problems will not only do nothing for black people, it will hold them back and retard their progress. Humbly, forward thinking, personal responsibility and cumulatively making good decisions will absolutely yield good results - it is as predictable as the sunrise.

Yes, it is - for the disproportionate focus, unncessary agitation (boy who cried wolf syndrome) and diversion of attention away from actual solutions for actual black people.

A man who has successfully separated multiples pairs of twins conjoined at the head - a surgery which takes upwards of 20 hours - is a fool?

Maybe he is a fool for thinking he could be capable of independent thought and still be accepted by the majority of the black community.

Meh. I'm sure I could do that with the right tools and a couple of youtube videos - heck, it's 2014 and I'm a smart guy.

The 'accepted' black leadership - Sharpton, Jesse, Sheila Jackson Lee, etc- would have done those surgeries in 5 hours unlike that idiot fool Carson who took 20. What a dumbass!

I'd post a really great song about this and hip hop's effect on it by a Christian hip hop artist, but ironically, I'm not sure I can because it contains the n* word

To people like Sharpton and Jackson, it's about 10% race relations awareness and 90% money. Hell, Sharpton got his notoriety through a completely fraudulent case.

Part of the current race relations are also a product of the mostly white media. They even coined the phrase "white Hispanic" in the Zimmerman case so they could drag up old tales of lynching because it makes a more exciting story.

Of course there's still racism in this country but the fact that people still portray this country as a Jim Crow society is grossly misleading.

Not normal circumstances.

Those cases, as well as Duke LaCrosse, were media driven frenzies around local issues. The media coverage was designed specifically to exploit racial sensitivity on election years with hope that it boosts ratings and black voter turnout.

A white cop shooting an unarmed black thug is not useful news today unless it was particularly heinous. The election is behind us now.

There will probably be another crisis exploited for the exact same reason in 2016.
