Loved the Monte Cristo. Always asked for honey mustard to dip it in instead of the raspberry preserves.

This was the ONLY thing I would get at Bennigan's the last 10 years they were open.
It was good and I truly miss it.

There is a chain called Cheddar's that makes a damn fine Mone Cristo. Looks like there is one in Laffy and Slidell.
Checked the online menu, doesn't look like the Slidell Cheddar's has it.

Thanks.
I was going to ask if anyone knew where in the NOLA area I could get one.
The only time I ever saw them on a menu anywhere here was Bennigan's.

I've been to Cheddar's once in Lafayette. It was in the last couple of months. It was the most pathetic place I've ever been. Grease from the ceiling to the floor. I wouldn't go there again if they were giving away free Monte Cristo's.

The one's in Tennessee are pretty nice and brand new. Always just seemed like a standard American style (O'Charley's, Applebee's) type sit down restaurant, nothing special or exceptionally bad.

My daughter and I take a trip to Lafayette shooters on Sundays, and always go a few blocks for the Monte at cheddars. Much like Bennigans, it's the only thing they have going for them. -- and the whole city flocks there. blows my mind.

wtf happened to Bennigan's? Are you telling me next time I go to Texas there will be no Bennigan's?

Luckily there is a specialty sandwich place downtown Roswell that makes one which is one of the best I have had and get when I drive through there.

Make the minis....get some small phyllo pastry shells, put the ham, and cheese in them. Melt the cheese in the oven, then put a spoon of preserves and sprinkle with the powdered sugar.
Easy, much less unhealthy than the real thing UNLESS you pop the entire tray.
