For once in your TigerDroppings life, can you just wait until at least the smallest inkling of story comes out before prematurely bitching? Sure, you might view it as conclusive; but if the folks behind the original have conceived of something else, haven't they earned a scintilla of good will from you?
Damn. Why the rush to shite on it?

........….........JUST NO!!!!! Can we not stop at perfection? Seriously, they've taken the concept as far as it can go. Yes they and the toy companies are going to make 2 billion dollars, but could we just have holiday specials and that's it? I don't mind those, but Toy Story ended perfectly. The scene where Andy gives away his toys is a conclusion to a franchise.
This.

Shoot off some ideas. I'm genuinely curious on where they can take this.
Even if it is great, I have a feeling that I'll still be slightly bitter it takes place after the third one since that conclusion was perfect, and this film simply existing kind of takes away from that moment. The way I see it, the audience is Andy, and thus they will have a hard time engaging the older viewers in the audience who grew up with these movies.

Okay so I'm the kind of person who doesn't mind continuing franchises or movies. Hey if you have a story to tell and someone to listen/watch, by all means. With that said, my first reaction to this was a big "Hell No, why??" I literally said that out loud in our office. I feel that the story is concluded, you've ended it. Andy letting go of his toys was in way me (and millions of people who were kids/teens when Toy Story was released) letting go of the franchise. Everyone has had to let go of pieces if not all of our childhood. That was so symbolic, that initially, I was completely against this.
Now that I've been talked down off the edge, I am reminded by the fact that Pixar has never made a movie that wasn't good. I've watched them all at least twice and I wouldn't rate a single one less than a 7.5 and only one is under an 8 to me (Brave).
I'm interested in seeing where they go with the story. Part of me wants for then to reveal how exactly the toys began to come alive. But it better not suck or be some half-assed cheesy explanation.
Well it's coming now, so ain't no use in getting mad over things I have no control over.

Well here's the thing. I agree with you that Toy Story 3 was a seemingly perfect end to the series, but I also was perfectly content with their being only one and then being only two. I just hate the rush to judgment based solely on the announcement that there will be another one when everything this creative team has done for Toy Story on the big screen before has been GREAT.
The question isn't if I can come up with an idea off the top of my head; it's whether the creatives behind the movie can. And you know what? They have three times!
I tend to get bored out of my mind they way things get revisited seemingly year after year. But in this case, I say let's see what they have in store before shitting on it.

Why why why couldn't they just leave it alone?????? That was going to go town as one of the GOAT trilogies and it ended perfectly.

Toy Story. 3 was one of the most perfect endings to a trilogy out there. I'll still watch a fourth, but I really can't see how they top the first 3.
They are great high quality movies, even when compared to live action films.

You know y'all don't have to watch the fourth and can easily pretend it doesn't exist. Like pretending toys come to life when humans aren't around. I loved the first three but if the fourth one sucks, it doesn't take away from the first ones. Never understand people's feelings that it will ruin a series of movies by adding another.

Well seeing as the toy Story trilogy is the highest rated trilogy of all time both as separate movies and as a trilogy, I don't see how anyone could blame them.

While everyone was bitching about whether they should make a 4th movie (they shouldn't...at least assuming they care about letting a perfect ending lie more than mining an obvious paycheck), did anyone notice this?
Had no idea she was a writer.
quote:
The story for this fourth film is being created by Lasseter alongside Lee Unkrich, the director of Toy Story 3, Pete Docter, the director of Up, and Andrew Stanton, the director of Finding Nemo — so this is truly coming from a team of Pixar all stars. They have also all worked on prior Toy Story films. The screenplay will be written by Rashida Jones, who has starred on Parks and Recreation and The Office, and Will McCormack, who previously wrote Celeste & Jesse Forever alongside Jones. Galyn Susman, who has been producing Toy Story shorts for Pixar, is producing the film too.

Too much money left on the table, especially when the success of the short episodes like "Toy Story of Terror". I trust them to make a good movie, and I understand how you can't pass up guaranteed money like that.

With the state of the movie industry I'm sure there will be a lot more Toy Stories
Too much money out there in that franchise right now

because this movie simply isn't necessary. Just like there's no reason to make a back the future 4, the storyline wrapped up absolutely perfectly.
Sometimes you just have to recognize a great thing and leave it be. There's no reason aside from money to find every good movie ever made and make a sequel to it.
