You better have a yard or property where a GSP can run. They will go insane and tear shite up if you keep it in a small yard

My yard isn't huge.... But, I run mine and constantly throw toys. I wouldn't say you have to have a big yard for a GSP, although it would be nice. You just have to be active.
Again... Stay away from bird dogs if you want mellow. I'd say you were around outliers as far as goldens. They are generally great family dogs... shite most bird dogs are, just need to be active.

I have seen lot of bird dogs...I have never seen nor heard of a bock golden retriever....
