This is someone that understands.
I feel terrible about what I've done, but it is what it is. I don't go out and get trashed when I have things to do for work. However, when I have the opportunity to cut loose I do.
ETA I have quit for months at a time to prove to myself I could... But I'm not going to quit all together. I just can't see myself living that life.

It is what it is?
Okay, whatever you say. There's a huge problem in your life but you're blind to it.

I haven't read through all 9 pages, but if you are 28 and getting blackout drunk 2-3 times a month, liver disease is almost surely in your future.

Living what life? Cutting loose and having fun without drinking yourself into unconsciousness?
Quitting for months isn't quitting. It's reslapsing.
Sounds like she made the right decision. You still have what is most important to you.

You can't change the past. Just know that your drinking will cost you dearly down the road. If you are having this bad of a time with drinking in med school then get ready because the pressure will only gets worst over time. Your work will eventually interfere with the drinking. Be prepared because "it is what it is".

You want it and need it. It's the only way you can cope. There is no such thing as controlling this bitch. If you can admit that at least then you made progress and this thread wasn't for nothing. Listen, if you can't control how much you consume then you don't control it!!!

Do what you want. (Shrugs)
The world always needs more food service workers and luggage checkers.

Do you know how many alcoholics have made that comment? Try 100% of them.
I hope you wake up one day and realize what's going on. Until then, have another and wait for the "real fun" to begin. Today you lost a girlfriend. Big deal right?
Here's the problem: shite starts getting progressively worse.
