I have an 11 yr old son who is Autistic, attends general education classes in public school. For some odd reason everytime my son passes gas and it stinks the teacher automatically sends him to the office to call home stating he crapped himself. Yet when other students pass gas they are not sent home. What can i do about this? I feel as though they are profiliing my son because of his exceptionalities.

Does he wear pull-ups or something?

How many times is everytime?

And what's he eating to smell that bad? Maybe tweak his diet?

jeez, do the teachers think autistic means retarded?
I don't have any stats on this, but I think autistic kids can control their bowels.

I feel for you.
But I'm assuming that flatulence doesn't make the teacher assume that the neurotypical kids have soiled themselves by age 11. Whereas with your kid, she would, especially if it has happened before.
But she could just be trying to get your kid out of her class to make her day easier. Do you know if this is a pattern in the way she treats special needs students?

We had a special needs kid that rippped farts all of the time. We would just call him out on it and laugh about how nasty it was, but the teachers never did anything. They would just tell us to be understanding and deal with it.
