My dad and his friends always talk about how when 1984 was released by Van Halen that most people were expecting David Lee Roth and company to finally release a live album. Obviously, the album wasn't very well-received by many of the group's fans.

Which albums have been major letdowns for you?

I'm honest enough to admit that I expected a big improvement from Slipknot (I know get your jeers in while you can) with the release of their latest album but it is undoubtedly their most uninspired and uncreative record to date.

Biggest one for me is probably:

Chuckles & Mr. Squeezy

Basically, dredg was a band known for meticulous attention to detail in the studio. After being burnt out by the previous masterpiece they had recorded, they wanted to experiment with just churning out an album. The result was uninspiring. Dan the Automator just didn't mesh at all with their sound. It all sounded very demo-y.

I stopped looking forward to albums in the late 90's. Most recent I can think of was the Marilyn Manson album the golden age of grotesque and so on from there with that "band".

Anything metallica released after the black album, which in its self, was an overall disappointment.

Was going to post this, but it's not terrible, it's just really average

Kind of a letdown to what my expectations were about it

Those are both good. It seems like everything following Mechanized Animals has been a greater letdown each time for Manson.

When Metallica said that they were going to try to make a more traditional album with Death Magnetic I know a number of fans were pretty stoked. However, the levels on the album are pretty shoddy and it obviously lacked the fury and intensity of their early albums.

I think that if the album had been made by anyone not named Metallica it would have been pretty well-received. However, it's hard to live up to the standard set by the first four albums.

Yea I think I liked RAM more than Human After All

That's a weird album. It's like they released it before they were halfway finished with it.

Discovery was a fricking masterpiece though
