They are trying to use the "war on women" strategy against Joni Ernst here in Iowa now. The past two weeks they have gone all in with this strategy, trying to paint Joni Ernst as anti-woman even though she is a woman herself.

The latest ad is pretty funny. Some blonde girl in her 20s looking at the camera as if she about to cry and saying "Just because Joni Ernst is a woman, doesn't mean she understands women" with her voice cracking as if she is about to break into tears, followed by a narrarator going on with your usual "wants to criminalize abortion" and "ban birth control" nonsense

I just want to know when enough voters will see through this ridiculous scheme.

They won't. Even when they don't support it in practice, as far as the "equal work for equal pay" aspect goes...

Probably when a large majority of women (regardless of political party) realize it's bullshite.

When it stops polling well?

Repubs would do the same thing if they could find a meme worthy of repeating

They'll keep making this phony accusation as long as it works for them.

I've mentioned this before, but imo one of Romney's biggest mistakes was not fighting back against this bullshite. In one of the GOP debates, former Clinton staffer and ABC hack George Stephanopoulos, who was moderating the debate, personally engaged Romney in a 3.5 minute "debate" over GS's idiotic hypothetical that some state could possibly outlaw the sell of contraceptives.

That's when I KNEW just how hard the Dems were going to work to paint Romney and the GOP as "anti-woman". If I had been running Romney's campaign, I would've had Romney speak before a conservative women's group within the week, call out Stephanopoulos for his biased hackery, and lay out his agenda for both women and the country.

But, Romney and his campaign didn't do jack squat. Possibly the biggest mistake they made.

It's going to take people like Carly Fiorina to neutralize the Dem's War on Women campaign.

Even using the "revised" numbers put out by the NGO that contrived the 76cents meme, the pay gap is around 7%.

And there are even more factors that could effectively lower that based on various cultural issues that you can't legislate (don't temp the statists though).

Now I'm not saying that 7% is acceptable, but that almost-nominal figure should dissuade a few voters from voting for a party that would support that wretched federal act these losers have been touting. that thing is a total POS that will do nothing to actually narrow that gap and will put money in trial lawyers' hands and create a whole new bureaucratic nightmare/expense. read the bills--terrible policy; terrible drafting.

also, there's the whole Milton Freeman theory of removing the cost of discrimination.

but all of that requires abstract, rational, objective thought, so f it.

STOP THE WAR ON WOMEN!

eta: i also saw someone post in another thread a favorite phrase of mine, "The Subtle Bigotry of Low Expectations."

applies here for various reasons.

eta: i need to stop typing on the phone. i think i just set a record for the most "thats" in a post.

Generally speaking, women act based on emotion, not reason, which is why Dems always appeal to emotion, even if the reasoning behind the words they choose is nonsensical. As long as the message pulls the heart strings, they will have a better shot at getting the right lever pulled on election day.

People who vote based purely on emotion get on my nerves. It's annoying that my life is potentially affected by the temporary mood of others. That goes for voters of all kinds.
