Just absurd! who exactly isn't able to figure out how
To get into bed. I want to meet someone that stays at a 5 star hotel and calls the front desk to send someone up to pull the sheets down for them. Nuts. Have any of y'all ever used this service?

You won't because it's something they just do.

Pay 4 or 5 star prices, get 4 and 5 star service.

In my experience, I'm never in the room when they do it. And if I am, I'll answer the door and they'll often just offer me snugglies like chocolate, towels, blankies, robes, etc. They don't barge in past you and force you to get into bed and be tucked in

I like the chocolates they leave but I feel like the invasion of my privacy overall makes it not worth it.

Just tell the hotel when you check in that you don't want turn down service. Problem solved.

Luxury is absurd in its most basic form. It is not that you need someone to do for you, but derived from the days where servants where plentiful and those who employed them basically did nothing for themselves.

ETA: I like being pampered like this from time to time. If I have worked hard to pay for such things, why shouldn't I pay for services that I enjoy? Same goes for spa services, shoe shines, haircuts, restaurants. Don't know why this concept is shocking to people.

The best turndown is at The Capital Hotel in Little Rock. With turndown, they leave a pack of toffee on your pillow. It's the best - that stuff is like crack. I've never called for turndown - it is always just done while we're out.

I've never called for this. They always just did it. The most absurd luxury "service" IMO is a bathroom attendant. It's awkward. I've never needed assistance washing my hands after using the restroom (which I always do because I'm not trash) and I don't want to tip somebody for handing me a fricking towel. It's just weird and annoying.

Stayed at the Sofitel in DC and it was done always while I was out. Lights were set low, classical musical put on, and the sheets turned. They didn't leave candy but left a bottle of water which is just fine for me.

I like getting the free chocolates and mints when they turndown the bed though.
