I am pro-life, but not based on religious reasons. I base it mainly on personal responsibility and yes, the "human life" aspect. I mean, I'm glad my parents decided to let me exist since I didn't have a choice in the matter.

Just fyi, I support free birth control to anyone who needs it paid by the taxpayer.

A policy I would support, but know would most likely be too radical:

1) One free abortion meaning the first abortion is a gimme, no questions asked. A woman can be given an abortion for any reason and no restrictions whatsoever. The woman would then be given free birth control for the rest of her life.

2) The second abortion would be the last because she would be sterilized after it was performed, unless she got pregnant by rape, incest or some other way that didn't involve her consent.

One of my concerns is a woman might try a "back-alley" abortion because she wouldn't want to be sterilized.

This probably sounds like way too much government control and I'm really pretty libertarian, but I also am very pro-life.

Abortion solution
Let each state decide. If I may quote this weird thing I read one time:

quote:

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

Sounds like a joke, right? Healthcare, gay marriage, etc. All we have to do is read this and there's the solution. Let each state decide. It's none of the fed's business. Too bad they repealed it. Oh wait, they didn't? Then what the hell is going on here?

I opened this thread with trepidation thinking "Abortion Solution, this is going to be crazy."

But I thought, "Yeah, but maybe it is the entertaining kind of crazy!" and opened it anyway.

Just give it time.

The standard is viability. It's almost certain that as time goes on, medical advancemt will move the viability date closer and closer to conception.

Your one concern should be that the sjw's will fight to have the goal posts moved.

Self created problem. I do believe in free birth control since it will be less costly to tax payers than the eight kids some welfare recipient has and the free hospital bill to have them.

I was raised pro-choice, and after a lifetime o thinking and researching i just can't justify it to myself anymore.

I am in favor of three prongs to helping solve this problem

1. Better sex education in school, specifically doing away with abstinence only policies.

2. Better and free access to birth control.

3. Better education on development of the child.

Try and lessen the need and the want for abortion at this point seems like the best avenue, as the courts have not been favorable.

Not sure if you're as pro-life as you declare.

What if you learned you mother had an abortion when she was younger, and she told you she probably would have had her tubes tied before having you if she had been forced to carry the pregnancy to term?

Guess that answers my question.

You're seriously fricked in the head. A woman's uterus isn't any of your business you self-righteous frick.

I base it mainly on personal responsibility
our government was never chartered to ensure that individuals exercised adequate personal responsibility. Nor should it. If a person f*cks up their life, it's not up to the government to "fix" that, nor prevent it from happening again.

The problem comes when the effects of other people are shifted to other people that did nothing wrong other than being responsible for themselves.

But that's not an abortion issue. That's a mooch cultural issue.

This, to me, would be an incentive to get an abortion.

What if it was consensual incest?
