What is this country coming to? Sure, they are "looking for gay references, etc" and all, but WTF? If that is the case, why isn't nobama's favorite pastor being looked at?

I posted this exactly 1 minute before you on the Political Board

1. This is on the political board.
2. While it is idiotic, this will get crushed in court if the Pastors are indeed not involved.

Definitely some weird shite going on in Houston. Rest assured if the Mayor of Dallas asked all the UU ministers to turn over their sermons Holder would be on the next flight into Ebolaville.

There is an eleven page thread on this issue on the front page.

The subpoenas are just the latest twist in an ongoing saga over the Houston’s new non-discrimination ordinance. The law, among other things, would allow men to use the ladies room and vice versa. The city council approved the law in June
Houston......our city park bathrooms aren't rapey at all. What a moronic idea. I can't believe this actually got passed through somewhere.

The gay mafia is pushing their agenda through intimidation

Now there's some delicious irony. These pastors, meddling in politics while hiding behind their charitable church entities, getting bitten by politics. Sucks to suck.

it's impossible to have a stance on social issues if those issues are political issues in the secular world
i'm not religious, so don't think i'm just being pro-church to defend my people
what would you have these churches do? ignore social issues to avoid being "political"?

They don't seem to have a problem upsetting the religious right.
ETA: This is obviously against the 1st amendment and should be thrown out with the quickness.

This is nuts. So the mayor is a carpet-muncher on a witch-hunt?

The Christian right. They'd kill themselves before offending Islam.

unless they vote Republican.

Hopefully if these pastors have actually done sermons speaking on homosexuality, they've addressed the act and not called out any specific people, which is the whole point. The church sometimes forgets that sin is the enemy, not people. So if the city of Houston is trying to get them for some kind of hate speech, if they don't mention anyone in particular, do they have any ground to stand on?
I never delve into politics, so I'm probably way out of my element.

I'm a classic liberal -- not this milquetoast new age neoliberal bullshite; all religions are awful and retard the growth of humanity. Islam is the worst, followed by Christianity.

Funny she hasn't gone after any Muslim MOsques in Houston yet to confiscate their sermons
