I can not for life of me figure out why he continues to leave the middle linebacker on a island knowing the weakness there. And it's not just a Welter problem. Beckwith, though a vast improvement, missed some tackles one on one also.

It is crazy. There is no one there over and over again.

I wish that LSU could run against a front like that once in a while.

Are we so afraid of the other team getting to the edge? Are our DEs that weak that they cannot play contain and seal off the edges? Where are our OLBs?

Sometimes it seems like the other team has 11 on offense and we have 7. We just seem outnumbered most of the time.

They bite hard on play fakes and take there selves out of the play.

Conversely, we do not run read plays well and opposing lbs are never fooled.

Offense goes 5 wide. Defense follows with 5 defenders and a OLB\Safety halfway defending the middle and halfway on the side with 3 receivers

Leaves 4 DL and Welter in the middle.

5 OL vs 4 DL and Welter = 20+ yard gain every time.

Its funny, because I'm one of them, that was ready for welter to see less time. But then beck with didn't do much better. He was responsible for the 2nd TD. So I guess the coaches do know their players.

Don't have pass rush so they try and put corners on island but then they get burned and bring the safety's out which leaves the middle open. Lb's and line can't shed blocks.

Many times the tackles are getting carried to the outside or blown off the football leaving a linebacker having to cover a massive hole while being blocked. Everything pivots off the weak play of the DL.

i don't think it is all on Chavis. The outside linebacker is lining up on a blitz on the outside that is too late to get to either the tailback or QB unless they are running right at them or dropping back to pass.
On the play two weeks ago it looked like the safety pulled the linebacker out of coverage on the line and had him following the slot receiver instead. When the play broke through a wide open hole the safety was about 5-10 yards from the sideline way too far out to help in the middle.

Additionally our d-lineman should not get pushed out of position when they are going one on one. In fact we really need at least one d-lineman who requires a double team.

Beckwith - misses "some" tackles

Welter - misses ALL tackles . No comparison

We should write him a letter, and let him know. You've figured it out, we can turn this ship around. I'll start:

Dear John,

I know you've got over 30 years of coaching experience, and I don't know shite about football, but I have watched a lot on TV AND I was pretty above average in high school...or as I like to refer to it, the glory years.

I recently noticed that you continue to leave the middle linebacker on an island, despite the fact you know it's a weakness. Please stop doing that. This will solve everything.

Sincerely,
TigerFanNKaty
