One in six teenagers who regularly smoke the drug become dependent
It doubles risk of developing psychotic disorders, including schizophrenia
Heavy use in adolescence appears to impair intellectual development
Driving after smoking cannabis doubles risk of having a car crash
Study's author said: 'If cannabis is not addictive then neither is heroin'

First off,
quote:

One in six teenagers

17% of teens?

I've personally seen many quit it cold turkey with no problems and not feel the need to smoke again.

ETA - I would imagine the percentage for heroine is much higher.

Didn't he say ‘If cannabis is not addictive then neither is heroin or alcohol’ ?

Pot is a lot like alcohol. It can have negative consequences and probably shouldn't be used by teens at all.

That being said, I'm not prepared to spend tax money to send guys with m-16s to your house to stop you from ingesting a plant that makes you giggly and hungry.

Like with all substances, moderation is paramount.

I actually see nothing to refute, but I am absolutely positive the study was done on a small scale.

Also, what is the author's suggestion?
More prohibition? Pot ain't goin nowhere, so we might as well mitigate all the "terrible consequences of use" and regulate it, huh?

This has all the markings of a pot hit piece.

Last night Professor Hall, a professor of addiction policy at King’s College London, dismissed the views of those who say that cannabis is harmless.

Im sure his methods are completely sound. Considering he actively needs things to be addictive, and cannabis is more highly used by the population than anything else.

I am for adults legally using marijuana and other THC products on libertarian grounds.

I'm against teenagers using it on health/consent grounds.

You have a bunch of studies that show alcohol or prescription drug abuse is good for teenagers?

I want gay married couples to be able to protect their pot farms with AK47's.

Is anyone fighting for pot to be legal for minors?

Would 1 in 6 teenagers who regularly drink hard liquor have serious problems? If so, do you think liquor should be outlawed?

This is what I say. I laugh at every point.

The very same talking points can be used for alcohol, tobacco, over the counter prescription drugs, etc.

Stupid article is stupid.

I've seen very few pot proponents claim pot is harmless. Compared to many other legal substances, including many over the counter drugs, it isn't any more dangerous. Compared to many prescription drugs, it is less harmful.

Are there risks with it? Of course. There are risks with just about anything you put into your body.

I've smoked quit a bit of weed, but quit because it wasn't making me feel the same anymore. It made me too foggy and I just didn't like it anymore.

That said, your study is bullshite. I quit cold turkey and never felt the slightest withdrawal. Alcohol, on the other hand, will slowly kill you aft breaking your body down. That, I have seen, but I don't see many public crusades against that industry.
