i worked with a Linux engineer that had a full sleeve...and he wore short sleeve shirts on the reg...one of the smartest and highest paid individuals on that team...if you know your job...and have a fricking masters....most employers wont give a frick....if they do, i wouldn't work for them...i have a lower arm tattoo as well...not a full sleeve, and haven't had not one employer mention it...

In 10-20 years CEOs of companies will have full sleeves.

and all the important positions are filled by those without one.
Is this because tattoos are unprofessional/trashy, or just coincidence?
No. It's because they are smart enough to not get it in a place that will be visible at work. They have them to.

I have tattoos and just got selected for the Jiffy Lube part-time assistant manager training program... so much for your theory.

I think that's because they're not considered trashy by the younger crowd, who would tend to hold more of the entry-level positions.
I was raised that they were for sailors, bikers, and convicts, but times have changed, though I still can't imagine anything I'd want marking my body like that for life (and I can sure as hell guarantee that whatever I would have thought was cool at 21 isn't something I'd feel that way about now).

I too work at an engineering firm. Guy across from me has full sleeves and makes well over 100k. You'd never know he has tats because he wears long sleeve shirts

Meh, depends what part of the country you are. I work with a high paying finance auditor who had no problem with people seeing his ink on his arm. He came here from the west coast and is smart as fck, so nobody cares.
I have a friend in a high paying position in the northwest with a big firm and lots of his co-workers are tatted up. Of course they are allowed to wear shorts to work too.![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

I'm going to have to put you on the "pay no mind" list, my man.
If they don't ask about tats in the character fitness screening they need to start.

when we were beating this to death last week, I mentioned that people with a special skill set that have considerable leverage are the exception to the wallpapered sheep that go into shops wanting to be covered up, but don't have an idea, and leave it up to the artist

Only uptight wannabes in the south worry about this kind of shite.

My cousin has a ton of tats and he is the head surgical nurse at a Dallas area hospital making stupid money.
I only have one and I'm just a lowly copper![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

Just an observation I made. Wasn't sure if this was widespread or not.
Literally everyone with a tat I see is non essential.
