I have a friend in Texas that has a sprinkler system in his house.
The State Fire Marshal Butch Browning is pushing for sprinklers in all new homes built in Louisiana. He was talking about it at meeting I attended last year.

All single family homes in Scottsdale built after 1985 are required to have built in sprinkler systems.

A single house fire in Scottsdale can quickly become a neighborhood problem.
That must drive up the cost of residences there though.

Not really worse than anywhere else, we can just afford to put them in.

Trust me, that is the last thing driving up costs!

Halon at the GRTiger household. It's good for fire suppression, but also when I pull out the gas mask, the wife knows to chill out.

We are building a new home in San Juan County, WA and they require full sprinkler systems for any new construction exceeding 4,000 sq ft. We made some design changes to stay below the trigger point. Initial cost estimate was $25,000.

It is required in two small towns outside Nashville, Nolensville and I think Ashland City. More towns in the area are looking at it. New construction of course.

Nope and have never seen one. Personally if it catches on fire I hope it burns to the ground. I much rather start over from scratch than have to do massive repairs.

In EBRP anything higher than 3 stories must have sprinklers, new construction.
Those condos on Brightside, close to tracks have em
They are 3 story living with garage on first floor.
Northside of brightside

They usually just have hookup for fire truck. The truck pushes water.

Soooooo, anyone here have sprinkler system in house? If so, did you install it or buy the house that way? Finally, is it a local code that requires it or just desire for increased safety?
Yep. 100 year old house.
