Speed Limit on Staring Lane

City police was running lasers in both direction and clocked me doing 51 in a 35. I accept that I broke the law, but for the life of me I can't understand why the speed limit for that road is only 35.
It's now a four-lane road with a grass median and the speed limit is only five miles faster than many residential roads in Baton Rouge.
When you consider that Staring turns into Essen, which has a 45 mph speed limit despite the lack of a median, it's pretty ludicrous that they haven't updated the speed limit since the road was widened.
Has anyone else been caught on that stretch lately?

For a while there weren't any signs, then it was 40, back down to 35 and only one sign by the vet clinic I think

Haven't been caught. But thanks for the heads up. I think the speed limit is ridiculous as well. But I thought they bumped it to 40?

No worse than the stretch of Bluebonnet between Burbank and Nicholson.

40 is just as absurd. It should be 50.

It was raised to 40 but lowered back to 35 after residents complained about noise.
The DOTD said that the road was designed for traffic flowing at 45 mph but settled on 40 as a compromise. Metro Council just voted to lower back to 35 last month even after traffic engineers said that doing so would make the road less safe

Bending to residents’ complaints, Metro Council lowers Staring Lane speed limit

the residents were getting harassed by drivers as they checked their mailboxes or pulled their trash cans from the roadside.
“This has been a difficult situation since it opened up; people curse us out and they’ll throw trash at you,” Shamlin said.

Exactly. After seeing cops posted over there one day I decided to stick to Burbank for any travelling in the direction of LSU or downtown.
I grew up in Ascension Parish where it's often 55 mph on two-lane roads with no shoulder and a 4-6 foot drop-off on both sides. Most of those highways twist and turn every which way and in some stretches you can't see someone coming up ahead.
Typically roads are widened to help alleviate congestion via traffic, but what's the point if you maintain a speed limit that barely takes advantage of the additional lane in each direction?

I haven't been but there was a thread about the other day when it was lowered. My old friend John Delgado(really is a friend) is responsible for that shite. We need to figure out how to get it back to 45. It's bullshite for sure.

Maybe because you are speeding past people's front lawns. Crazy concept, I know.

This is a 'lane?' Is it a paved lane or is it gravel?

People in Baton Rouge will bitch about anything.
I love how Perkins Road is 45 mph despite being only two lanes from Airline Hwy in Prairieville to Siegen Lane. There are houses all along the road throughout the majority of that stretch of highway and somehow the residents manage to survive each day.

Not to derail or anything but GOD DAMNED AP particularly pvill, st amant and northern Gonzales have some DANGEROUS roads and drivers.
No shoulder, no dividers, 45-55 mph and ZERO speed enforcement.
Add pedestrians at night and it's every week a fatality from 61 on the west , 431 to the east, 42 to the north, and Stringer Bridge to the South.

I wouldn't mind it being 40 if thats the speed people went. But I will pull out onto staring and damn near get rear ended by someone going 55 in a damn 40. They needed to reduce it, and I am glad they are running radar to help curb the speeding.
Someone is going to get in a bad wreck on that road soon.
