Just got back from trout fishing on the White River in Arkansas. This was my first time trying to trout fish. Took a few days to figure them out but we limited out 3 of the 5 days.

Beautiful country up there, it's hard to believe that it's only one state north of us.

Went through Calico Rock on the 29th and the White River was really low but I saw on the net today that the water level at the gauge was about 8 feet, which is really high.
We used to go up to Gaston's on the White River almost every Thanksgiving if the weather was nice.

Man I love that whole area. We go up to the Buffalo River at least once a year.

I was up there on the 17th -21st and stayed in a house on wildcat and fished wildcat the whole time we were there.
We didn't kill them but we definitely catch a bunch of fish. About 4 years ago we were up there and absolutely killed them. 3 of us had over 100 fish between us in just a few hours.
It is an amazing fishery. This time I caught a 22in brown that was probably around 4-5lbs and another that was around 20in and 3lbs.
I'll get some pics of those two.

Great pics! Amazing place! We were there in July staying about 10 min from the dam. It was my first time there and first time trout fishing. I absolutely fell in love and its definitely a priority trip at least once a year.

It's some pretty country up there. My family has been going there since the 60's. I heard interesting stories growing up about my uncle and cousins swamping boats and sleeping in trees overnight, and hitting rocks and ripping the motor off of the back of the boat. I've never been there in the spring but have wondered how many turkeys you could hear off of those bluffs.
