Ala Jordan Jefferrson most likely outcome, starter for the next 3 years regardless of his level of play and no matter how good harris looks behind him.

(Assuming Miles is the HC during this entire time frame)

If you're right, Harris will transfer and I wouldn't blame him.

Will probably transfer and win the Heisman somewhere else while AJ throws for 120 a game here

If Harris transfers and excels at another school, then why would any top QB recruit in his right mind want to come to LSU as along as Miles is there?

I often wonder this now, a lot of the big time guys we get come here and never reach their potential b/c they are never given a chance to excel.

I say Harris wins the job before the season is over but may not be able to keep it. he is very small and may not be that durable. we seem destined to have 2 qb's at the ready.

You can laugh until you cry, buddy. Too many of us who saw the situation unfold first hand are still around for that kind of revision.

For the record, AJ has started 5 games. I wish he were a stud right out of the gate like Hill, but he may need a few more games to get it together. We'll see. I'd be fine with Harris being made the starter assuming he has the maturity to be a leader on and off the field. I don't see the point of pushing for it prematurely, however.

damn I wish more people on the rant had such common sense. your post is lacking in that it contains no overreaction, knee jerk calls for immediate change of schemes coaches players and whatever nor does it call anyone names. novel approach sir.

He had a bad game. JJ 2.0 :highfive:

From my POV, at least, it isn't that he had a bad game; it's that he has looked almost identical in his 5 starts. Hovers around or a little above 50%, great deep ball to Dural, questionable in most other areas.

I'm not ready to anoint Harris the #6Heisman GOAT, but I would like to see him given an equal chance. Let Harris have roughly the same number of snaps against NMSU as Jennings had against the other two cupcakes, see how they compare. It seems like the most accurate way to gauge the difference between them is to have a comparable sample of both against a similar level of competition.

I was trying to post this on another thread ("Should Harris transfer..."), but it was locked before I could do so. My response to whether or not he should: No. The plan is to nurture Harris through the next game(s) so he learns the plays and anticipates without anxieties overpowering him. As he sees the field from the sidelines and works with Cam and Brad to "get the big picture", he will ease back into the position and master it. A little "bench time" can only help in the learning of patience and the building of character. There is a phenomenon characteristic of neophytes (and I am using this term because he is in the SEC)--they have a "zeal without knowledge." As time goes by, he (and other neophytes on the team) will learn to be steadily "firing on all cylinders" while running the race with patience and wisdom. Wisdom only comes with trial and effort--it's the valley experiences that cultivate character.

Who wouldn't be miserable watching JJ the Sequel? Our offense was painful to watch with him behind center and so far, it seems like Les is ready to subject the fans to several more years of the same.

Boy your lack of knowledge is impressive young one. Harris is HURT that's why he didn't play against UF. When he's 100 percent he will be our QB again guaranteed. Jennings has done nothing but prove he's not a SEC QB to the coaches. JJ was better than Jennings is at this stage in his career and that's very hard to say. Relax calm down enjoy this young team.

How much longer do you expect AJ to hold onto the staring job? Does AJ lose the starting job this offseason? Does he hold onto the job for the next three seasons a la Jordan Jefferson? What say you?

The QB is not the problem....

I, for one, still have faith in [Jennings] being a great LSU QB.

uh, what??

Jennings a "great" QB??? Good god, man, have you not been watching his performance??? He seems like a good kid, but what in the world has he shown that demonstrates he has the skills to be a great QB???

From what I've seen, he needs to improve dramatically to even become an "average" SEC QB.

ETA: For the record, AJ has started 5 games.

He played in nine games last year including one start. (bowl game)

He has played in seven games this year...starting six.

Is this enough experience to say his development should be complete?...No.

Is this enough experience to run the offense effectively?...Yes

It's pretty rare to see a 3-4 year starter in college these days so at some point you have decide who gives you the best option depending on what you want to achieve.

If we want to win now, we should take our chances with Jennings. If we want to win in the future (next season), we need to develop Harris by getting him quality playing time.

I'd give Jennings a little more time to step up. If that doesn't occur, I'd pull the trigger and start working to develop Harris. I just don't want to see another Jefferson episode. The excuse makers kept saying he needed more time and you see where they got us.
