they're trained to shoot for center mass, which he did here (explains why the victim was shot in the hip)

Quote from police firearms trainer

quote:

“Center mass. It’s ‘
operations central’ for your body, houses your heart, a most important muscle that sends blood to all parts of your frame. Your lungs are also here and they are necessary for the balanced exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide. You got nerves, lots of nerves that pass through center mass. The vagus nerve for instance represents the golden highway of neurological life sustaining information between your brain and vital organs. This nerve is the master switch for heart rate and blood pressure. Turn off that switch, empty the pump of blood or puncture a lung and a person is likely to die—quickly. This folks is where we are going to put our bullets.”

quote:

There was a sudden crackling of the PA system and the range master began to speak.

“Two shots to the body, center mass...follow it with one to the head. The use of a firearm is deadly force, folks and your shots need to stop the threat. Remember, the ultimate responsibility for taking another human life is yours. No one else can make that decision for you. You have to be prepared both physically and mentally. To stop a deadly threat you have to know when and where to shoot. I want to see good target placement and a tight group on your chest shots. Are there any questions? OK... Is the line ready? The line is ready... on the command... draw and fire!”

Like I said, trained to shoot to kill.

Cops are just the worst. I'm shocked he only fired once though - I thought the resident cop defenders on here always said "once the decision is made to fire, you don't stop" or some other such nonsense.

Eta: never mind FOUR shots - my audio was off. Cops are just the worst.

Did the cop like dive behind the car for cover?

I have no clue. On the video you can see the cop scuttle from left to right and the citizen lurch left but the last shot clearly creates a hole in the citizen's car on the right side of the camera (on rewatch there were four, I miscounted). How THAT angle works without incredibly wild aim or some ricochet I have no idea.

Maybe new recruits can walk over to the prison on a field trip and visit this guy and learn about what not to do during a traffic stop.

The sheep generally do not like the sheepdog. He looks a lot like the wolf. He has fangs and the capacity for violence. The difference, though, is that the sheepdog must not, cannot and will not ever harm the sheep. Any sheepdog who intentionally harms the lowliest little lamb will be punished and removed. The world cannot work any other way, at least not in a representative democracy or a republic such as ours.

Thanks for pointing that out. That is crazy, like he shot through the car or something. I would love to see the official police report with a chart of the bullets fired.

Maybe he ducked behind the right side of his own car and blind fired over the top

If the guy leaning into his car wouldn't center mass be his hip?

Military snipers will aim for center mass of enemy's little toe if that's all the can see.
