Tony Stewart will not face charges after August’s fatal dirt track crash.

Ontario County District Attorney Michael Tantillo made the announcement Wednesday afternoon after revealing the results of a grand jury investigation.

Tantillo said two dozen witnesses were interviewed during the investigation, including drivers, race track workers, medical personnel and police. Members of the grand jury reviewed photo and video evidence before coming to the decision that there was no basis for charges. The case was “no-billed” by the grand jury, Tantillo said.

Tantillo said there was no doubt that Ward’s family was disappointed in the results of the investigation but said they expressed appreciation for the investigative efforts in the case.

He would not say if Stewart testified in the case, citing the confidential nature of grand jury proceedings.

Civil suit to come.

I doubted he'd be criminally charged.

Just a mess...

justice is found in the dictionary, not in the court room, it is also available to those that can afford it

Can't look good for the sponsors...

From link:

"He would not say if Stewart testified in the case, citing the confidential nature of grand jury proceedings. Tantillo also said Ward had marijuana in his system and suggested it was enough to impair his judgment."

He will be judged by a higher court. And the judge knows what his true intentions were. I wouldn't want to be him.

I didn't expect the guy to be convicted of murder one but no charges at all? Not even negligent homicide?

I agree that he will get taken to the cleaners in civil court, though.

This is a cash grab by the Ward family. It cheapens my opinion of them. Racers and racing families understand the risks. Kevin Ward was a TPoS for endangering the lives of his competitors with his impaired driving. If he had been caught in the ranks of NASCAR or IRL on the track using the marijuanas, we would have been banned from competition. There will be an early settlement. We won't hear the details of it. The Ward's attorneys won't let this go to court. It's too risky.
