just wish LSU would cater more to our players' talents than trying to plug them into our tired old offensive scheme.
exactly. Getting talented players in space is taboo though

defenses must love game planning for LSU compared to all the other offenses out there.
You're wrong.
It hurts to play LSU. That's why they tend to give up in the 4th qtr.
Maybe you're too young to remember Nebraska when they were strong, but they didn't fool anyone, they just lined up and ran their plays. Everyone knew what was coming, they just couldn't stop it. I like that style of football.

And it works when you have better players. We currently do not have better players than every team in the West. I know everyone loves recruiting rankings though.

if you are able to drive the ball early. We haven't worn a team out yet this year.

Nebraska was stupid to go away from that style. But we aren't and have never been Nebraska on offense.

I like the kind of football that produces points...whatever style that may be. I remember Nebraska...and it was some boring shite.

Wanting to spread out a defense does not always mean what you think it does.
Apparently you don't know what I think. I saw LSU have success running from multiple WR sets against Wisconsin. I guess when you have SRs at TE, FB and RB and FR at WR, they tend to go with the sets that are heavy on upperclassmen.
Who can be surprised by this?

If the defense decides to not spread out you can throw the ball to wide open wr's when the ball is snapped.
In the 3rd quarter LSU had 8 passes, one fumble on another called pass play to TWO running plays. Looks to me they were trying something different coming right out of the half. That same quarter saw State score two TDs. Apparently the offense made adjustments, the defense didn't.

I suspect they will.

I prefer boring wins to exciting losses - because wins don't bore me.
I think that's pretty much the long and short of it.

Why are these mutually exclusive?
Posted on 9/25/14 at 12:34 pm to MontanaTiger
I'll say this. back in 2009/2010 (skip 2011 because everything went right that year) / 2012, all we heard from Miles was that the scheme was correct, it just came down to the execution by players that went wrong.
again, years later, we are now still blaming execution? If anything, why not blame a mixture of both? Of course you're not gonna hear miles say that his scheme is the crux of the problem, but how many years of offensive ineptitude is LSU gonna have before Miles finally gives in and decides to evolve his philosophy on that side of the ball?

I never said they were. I just said I would prefer to win games than just score points.
Last year LSU broke all kinds of records on offense - and went 10-3.
Was losing to Ole Miss last year really all that better than they way they lost to State this year?

well earlier you were talking about the spread with slinging the ball all over the field...i want to continue to run but not into 8 man fronts.

Defense scored a td on first play. State then scored a td. We still were lined up in the i for most of the plays in the 3rd quarter. We only opened it up down 3 tds. Are you disputing this?

In the end it was a loss. But if you want to look at the process and the way we lost, yes the Ole Miss game was better. We shot ourselves in the foot in that game with poor decisions from Mett and weren't completely dominated on BOTH sides of the ball. This game for almost the entire game, it was the definition of insanity

Well you can't have one without the other genius!

I will say I always felt we would come back in the game last year, even down 17-0.
getting down this past saturday was a helpless feeling.
Yes, i understand the personnel that we have dictates the feeling. But there seemed to be a lack of a sense of urgency on offense. I didn't feel that kick in until Harris was brought in to run the 2 minute offense.
I'm not advocating a 2 minute offense, or even a spread offense.
I would, however, like to see a more wide open attack, which would help out your run game alot more.

Which would probably make everyone more comfortable, since most these kids didn't run two tight ends and a FB in high school.
From what I recall, pretty sure Harris was taking snaps in shotgun most of the time and LF was taking read option handoffs, etc.

LSU can win with this playbook. When your QB and OLine play awful, you might as well light the playbook on fire.
LSU can win with this playbook yes....but they probably won't. LSU can win with spreading out people too...our chances being much higher than current playbook.
Point is...why make it harder on yourself? It's called evolution and at some point Miles better unless he would rather lose more games than he wins.
Posted on 9/25/14 at 12:52 pm to The Egg
getting behind in these games has become a trend of Miles...its become a personality of this team....and it's not a particularly good one.

No, I'm still disputing this:

I also know they are incapable of making adjustments prior to half time...and in some case never.
