Best spot to get downed trees to split? Last year I got a whole, old oak that had fallen from a friend and that was enough. But I need some recs, even if not for this winter

craigslist
go ask any tree cutter they are hauling most wood off to the landfills. but oak takes a while to dry but if you split it and build a solar dryer keep it buttoned up let that temp will crank up and you can have dry wood by thanksgiving.

They're easy to find. Just start looking.

You learn quick to not bother fricking with anything that's hard to get to.

Only when the wind blows or the horse passes gas close to it! (Just messin with ya!) Actually, a good friend of mine has a solar kiln. He makes custom gun stocks out of all kinds of wood and he has to use absolutely, 100% cured wood. He made his solar kiln and it works great.

Try a hardwood sawmill, they sometimes sell excess butts and they split it.

You need some trees? Got a bunch of oak trunks I fell a few months ago. I can give you a cord or so. You have to cut and split, but I can help.

Nope, I'm set, I got half a chord left from last year.

When I moved into my new house my mother in law got me a full chord delivered and stacked as a Christmas gift.
