Maybe artesian was the wrong word

It comes from sand aquifers 1500 feet below ground

BR does not use river water

lol...you guys live at the bottom of the MS river...that water youve been drinking has probably been through 50 toilets by the time it gets to you.

No. New Orleans does that. Baton Rouge gets water from the Southern Hills Aquifer. The whole city and its suburbs uses this water. Even the refineries.

It's really good water. Every bit as good as bottled water.

New Orleans water tastes like shite, even after run through a water filter, unless you put a million ice cubes in it.

bossier city used to be really shitty. it's still shitty, but not as bad

when I first started traveling to Shreveport area I thought it had a odd smell to it - after 12 years I don't notice it. Maybe it was being 'treated' so that is what contributed to the odd smell or maybe it still has a smell and I no longer realize it.

Baton Rouge does, yes. Of the 9 different states I've lived in Baton Rouge has the best drinking water by far.

The Georgia water I've got now comes from a lake full of rednecks with their jet skis and bass boats; and a coal fired power plant. It's not the worst I've had. Odessa, Texas wins that one. Lots of people there are missing teeth because the water is so salty.

We ate at a ridiculously over priced clip joint in Denver called The Fort. Service was bad and the waiter was a snob but the water was actually thicker or heavier than normal water and tasted really weird. Food was decent but not good enough to overcome bad water and a snobby waiter with bad service. I always found Disney World water from the fountains foul smelling and bad tasting. I always thought they did it on purpose to keep people from drinking it and buying more stuff from them.

There's B.R. water, and then there's everything else.

I remember coming back to B.R. for the holidays after living away for a while, and how incredible it felt to take a shower or even just wash my hands--like the water just felt so bubbly and soft.

I have sat on the floor of a hotel room crying before a wedding because the water (New Orleans) was so bad that my hair felt like a jar of grease had been dumped in it after just washing it.

There's more to the story, but I was hysterical over it

It's weird. If I pour water from the sink in a hotel in New Orleans, I want to puke it's so bad.
But I can't recall a time I was unable to drink restaurant water. Maybe it's because I only take tiny sips between my actual beverage.

I remember taking a shower at a hotel in BR when I was a kid and thinking that shampoo was still in my hair after I had rinsed it for 5 minutes. I hated how soft that water was. Tasted fine though.

My well water at my house has a lot of iron in it and here recently is infused with unsafe levels of arsenic due to fertilizer leaching thru the soil. My wife won't drink but I told her it's ok because it's only arsenic.

Most people don't realize how good Baton Rouge water is. And it's dead soft which alleviates all of the headache from hard water.

I despise soft water for showering purposes. You feel slimy and greasy. You have to essentially work the soap off you. And of course, it leaves your hair flat.

Greenville, MS. I remember checking into the hotel and they had signs in the rooms telling you that despite the color of the water it was ok to drink.

Best: Wilson, La in the winter right out of the tap.

Worse: Laplace, La. Just terrible.
