I have eaten mudcats before and they weren't all that bad...they didn't look like that, though...

That is a spotted cat, aka flathead. No better eating catfish.

On the mud cats, they're great when the water is cold. I've never eaten them during warm months.

When you clean them they're reddish and ugly but put them in fridge in water for at least a day. When you cook them they'll taste a lot lot spotted cat.

We throw away mud cats, but what you have there is not one.

Don't eat that fish it's poison. Just let me know where you dump it so i'll know where not to pick up a fish
