Bought a Gen 4 after shooting a friends gen 3 for a while and I cant be happier. I like the grip better on the 4.

congrats, you're already a step ahead of most. i have a Gen 4, my bro has a gen 3. honestly, i think the gen 3 feels better in the hand, however i like the modularity of the back straps you can add on the Gen 4and it comes with 3 mags instead of 2. the gen 4 has a dual recoil spring that the salesman will try to tell you helps with recoil. it doesn't.

TL;DR : you can't go wrong with either, i have a 1911 too so let the haters hate

ETA: i conceal carry mine errrday so let the haters hate some mo

the answer is completely subjective. you need to hold both the gen 3 and gen 4. if the gen 3 fits your hand fine, there is no need for gen 4. however, the interchangeable backstraps can make a world of difference if the gen 3 grip isn't ideal for you. i do also like the gen 4 texture a lot better.

I'm partial to the gen4... Better grip texture, the mag release is better. I'm left handed and the mag release can be moved for leftys. Also, as someone else said you get a extra mag with the gen4

Maybe one day... But don't hold your breath.

I should be reviewing my SR45 when I get the chance. Plus I have some friends with Shields and I want to review and test one. Plenty more to come on the Bapple Tube.

My dad picked up the Glock .380 the other night just to mess around with. He wanted a plinker and was going for the Heritage Rough Ryder .22lr/mag, then saw the Glock.

I am not well-versed in handguns, I assume its decent despite being a small caliber?

Getting a .380 as a plinker wasn't necessarily a wise choice. $$$$

It's decent but it's too large for a .380 IMO. The only thing .380 has over 9mm for carry is that the gun can be considerably smaller. There are guns chambered in 9mm that are smaller dimensionally than a Glock 42. To me it makes little sense unless you're recoil sensitive and have lady parts.

I used my glock to blow my 1911 to pieces.

Put your hands on a Springfield XDM and you will forget about that Ugly Block. Really the XDMs are far superior to any Glock ergonomically and man does it look better. Also the XDMs have match grade barrels...it is all about the "M". LINK

Meh in my opinion xd's suck. Barrel is way too high. Comfort in hand doesn't mean quality shooting

ETA: I'm gonna rephrase: XD's don't suck. They are nice handguns. I would rank them a generous 3rd behind any glock, then any M&P

I agree. I've never been able to figure out the trigger on them. It's really thin and has a lot of travel.

I do think the XDm is a considerable step forward over the regular XD though.

Just a heads up. I work as a LEO and we just replaced out Gen 3 guns with Gen 4. We took them to the range for routine qualification and many of them had problems with the second pin backing out from the right side of the gun.

Now that's good to know

Bapple: I'll check out your page when I get a break later today.

Sig is also up there on my list, but the guy I'm buying through can get better prices on Glock. Still, might be an option though.

Was going to ask this same question yesterday. But decided to go ahead and order a gen 4. $475. Just don't think you can go wrong.
