West Nile was really bad in Louisiana 10 years ago. The number of cases is way down. I don't know if there's a connection, though.

I remember those things putting out an entire street full of fog. Today's truck are putting out mist.

They dropped mirex (now a banned carcinogen) from planes in the 60s and 70s in an effort to eradicate fireants. We were known to get showered by it and perhaps have a nibble at the little pellets.

There are conspiracy theorist who believe the spaying is weather control and population control fodder.

I have a theory that they accidentally bought the wrong pesticide in NE Arkansas. All the fireflies are gone now, but mosquitoes are still there like a plague.
