Old Man River:

The stadium actually filled up quite a bit after the point you took the picture. It was not until a few minutes after kickoff that the stadium was at its fullest (still not completely full, of course). The holes in the student section filled in better than I expected.

So, the tickets are sold but 25k tickets not used for Sam Houston and 30k not used for ULM. How about LSU allowing those in Upper Deck at halftime access to West and East Sidelines

I could see the sections roped off (professional schools), and didn't know if those were greek. When I sit on the West side, I definitely can see the Greeks sit in a small part of the gold seats. The jumbotron cameras love this section.

Yea, the greek students pay quite a bit extra for those seats as opposed to the ordinary greek student seating.

Also, as far as the professional schools section, most of the schools have an allotted number of tickets and they have their students put in requests for tickets the week of the game. Unfortunately, most of the tickets go unused except for the big games. As for the law school, they allocate tickets for the entire season to most law students, but most of the law students never go to the games.

So when do we admit that tamu and bama have the premier stadiums and crowds of the conference?

TAMU's tackle box stadium is a joke and Bama is having an even worse time filling their stadium and getting them to stay then we are.

Stop trolling.

When I used to be a member of the LSU rivals site, one of the writers would post the actual attendance number he got from somebody at LSU every week. I know after the Sam Houston game somebody posted that Jordy Hultberg reported 76K on his radio show, so I assume he got that number from somebody as well.

Their new upgrades aren't a joke. Their facilities are tied for best in the SEC with Bama and Tennessee.

Their fans actually show up and they have many more students than we do. It's clearly a better environment.

Death Valley used to be great, but I think success has kind of spoiled the crowd a bit. Now, there's only one scenario where Death Valley does great:

1. Tigers must be in SEC or NC champ picture.
2. Tigers must be playing top 5 team.
3. Must be night time.
4. Must be clear weather.
5. Must not be too cold or too hot.

The last game to meet this criteria was Bama '12. Before that, it was UF '07.

Those were pretty good, but not on the same level as Bama '12, UF '07, and UGA '03.

And? You are talking about 3 of the loudest games in TS history which makes them some of the loudest sporting events in college football history. Of course the perfect set of circumstances has to come together to match up to those.

Fans have been clamoring for night SEC games for years, screaming that's the reason why our attendance sucks. If we have a night SEC opener, ranked #8 in the country, against a good West opponent and we can't get the place full, and sustain it, then it's time to admit the fan base isn't what we think it is and want it to be.

THIS THIS ...fricking THIS.

Couldn't have said it any better myself. For all the bitching and moaning that people have done about having our night games taken away in the past, it is now time to put up or shut up. SEC West game...SEC opener...nighttime. What more do you want? If the actual crowd is under 90K and many of them have left by the 4th quarter of a reasonably close game (+/- 14 points), then Tiger Stadium is a myth.

And the fact of the matter is I expect the actual crowd to be under 90K with many of them gone before the game is over

I got BS on the 76k for SHSU. There were few empty spots. The only spots that were empty were in the west uppers.

When bleacher seats are vacant, the other people on the row slide over and spread out, giving the appearance the section is full when it really isn't. Plenty of people have posted that they witnessed this in their section. 76K seems very reasonable.

So this isn't even second hand information that you're getting, its second-second hand. Until you get someone from the LSU Athletic Office, quit trolling. Yeah they fluff the numbers when we play shite teams, but for the big games, the place is 99.99% full.
