I, like everyone else, would love to see a high flying wide open offense. we would score more points but also turn the ball over a good bit and take a lot of negative plays that would get us beaten.

Miles summed it up in his post game presser. We have significant advantages on the defensive side and disadvantages on the offensive side of the ball. The priority is to eliminate turnovers and take the ball away. pound our running game and controlled passing game. if we do that it gives us the greatest chance to win every game on our schedule.

its not sexy and it won't light up the sportscenter highlights but it is the proven recipe for a team with this makeup to win.

They did it in 2011 they surely can do it again. It's a winning recipe.

I agree on the strategy but after some point in the game its not working you have to change strategy.

Until Jennings can show some ability to throw short passes, and complete a frickin' screen, this has to continue.

Until Jennings stops locking in on one receiver, I really don't want some wide open offense. I do think more read option, including throws from that look would be successful.

I dont need to see a high flying offense. Just not one that is totally predictable with inferior players just bc they fit the predetermined role.

We can still have a conservative offense but still utilize our superior talent. Putting guys like Neighbors, Jeter, and Moore on the field in lieu of Magee, Diarse, Williams is the issue i have.

Miles has a proven track record, and the rest of the SEC knows it. While it is okay to rely on the run, and mix in a few passes, we rarely do the "mix in a few passes" part until we absolutely have to. This makes the "run the ball and control the clock" part of the game plan very difficult. We just watched LSU struggle to gain rushing yards for an entire half against ULM. This was in a half in which our defense totally dominated the Warhawks. How can ULM's outmanned defense do this? Because defenses don't have to take on LSU's run game man for man. They get to have at least a one man or two man advantage. Les Miles has proven over the years that we will continue to run the ball into an 8 or 9 man front come hell or high water. The ultimate sunshine pumpers will point to last year, but last year was the big exception.

Why not use games like ULM to break tendancies and work on the passing game? If ULM is stuffing 9 men in the box, why did we insist on running into that brick wall? The entire SEC knows that Les is not going to throw the ball until he absolutely has to, and it badly hurts our running game. The 2012 @ Florida game was a perfect example. That Florida team was not better than LSU, but they had a good punter pinning us deep, and Les refused to open up running lanes by passing the ball. About our only passing answer was throwing quick slants, but that does nothing to deter teams from stacking the box. If looking at 2013, we had much bigger running lanes because we were willing to throw the ball on early downs and thus teams were not as committed to jamming the box.

This Saturday will be very interesting because last year at Ms. State our offense won that game for us. This year will be different, and I hope our much improved defense will have the chest to win this game on their own.

I think this is the best strategy, but we have to be flexible enough, and competent enough to take what the opposing defense gives. ULM was loading 9, sometimes 10 in the box and we pounded away at it. I would like to see the Tigers get better at checking out of the run against a stacked box.

Every offense constantly evolves during the season. Ours will do the same. Things will get better. I promise.

Jennings has already shown he can throw intermediate passes damn near perfectly. It's the short routes and routes over the middle I want to see more of.

Seems like every year, this is the case. The defense bails us out.

controlled passing game.

9 to 10 in the box and anyone can stop the run. Wisconsin did that with fair bit of success before they ran out of gas. Alabama, Auburn, Texas A&M, Ole Miss will not. Besides we do not have Jeremy Hill, Stevan Ridley, or Spenser Ware. For that matter Jacob Hester.

pound our running game

Been hearing this for the past 10 years.

We were playing ULM.
Look, I'm ok with it now, and Les has proven again and again that he's better than I thought he was after his first few years here; HOWEVER, this game was more proof that Les is not about getting the most out of his team's abilities, maximizing their performance on the field, or putting a spectator-friendly product on the field. He is about minimizing the number of losses he sustains. And no, that's not the same thing as getting the most out of his team.

That strategy won't win the big games against, Auburn, Bama, and FLA/Tam.

I totally agree, BUT, it is very tough to watch at times. Beating NLU 10-0 at halftime is not exactly exciting football.

I have come to believe that some LSU fans will never be satisfied. After 10 years we should all realize that LSU's offensive style will be determined by the personnel.

Last years offense looked nothing like this years offense. This group is not ready or capable of putting up those type of numbers......yet.

Nothing wrong with this, but to run this offense you need a deep threat. You have to make the defense pay for stacking 8,9,or even 10 in the box.
