Secondly, if we hadn't took out Sadaam, he would own half of Saudi Arabia by now, Syria, and probably the UAE.

Ironic.

Funny.

But I stopped reading after that. Wonder if I missed out.

I doubt it.

Yeah, honestly I noticed that a little while after I posted it. Had a little chuckle at myself and wondered if anyone would catch it.

Someone immediately corrected me on my use of "don't", but missed the spelling error... Congrats.

First off, Iraq started this mess by invading Kuwait... or have we forgotten about that murderous dictator's power-grab? Secondly, if we hadn't took out Sadaam, he would own half of Saudi Arabia by now, Syria, and probably the UAE.

I assume you are talking about the first Gulf War, no? If so, and the entire world didn't come together for the aid of a very very rich pissant nation in Kuwait, would Iraq have targeted Saudi Arabia and the UAE next? Unlikely.

But let's go further and assume no one defends Kuwait AND Sadaam attacks Saudi Arabia sometime in the 1990's, several years before the largest terror attack on American soil. Would the same Saudi terrorists carry out the same target against the US or would they focus on Iraq?

Remember, Al Qaeda wanted to attack Iraq instead of the coalition. Would that have really been a bad thing?

That is definitely an interesting thought. I personally think 9-11 would've still gone down.

A few nukes would have solved this entire issue

Maybe, maybe not. If Sadaam took over Syria as his next move after Kuwait (I think we can all agree that that would be a good thing right now) then he probably would have stopped as he would have had access to two amazingly key ports. Why go after Saudi Arabia, the new Iraq would probably be in a better economic position? Plus you don't want that type of war turning your back on Iran.

So, if the First Gulf War does happen:
1) Iraq would include Kuwait and possibly Syria.
2) Al Qaeda would have spent the 90's waging war with Iraq.
3) Possibly no 9/11.
4) Definitely no ISIS.
5) Iraq would be under control.
6) Afghanistan would still be a dead country run by idiots but less opium.

So wow, maybe we never should have gone into Iraq at all? Was the father's war a bigger mistake than the son's?

TBH I think sadaam was just as bad, if not worse than ISIS is. Remember, he killed thousands and thousands of Iraqis. He and his "Royal" family were absolutely BRUTAL. I think we often forget about the horrific atrocities he did when trying to justify the argument against the bush's. Fact is, he had it coming, and al qaeda was not gonna be the hand of justice against him. He was committing a systematic genocide, just like ISIS is doing. We just never heard about it BC it happened inside the borders of a sovereign nation. Kinda like N Korea is now... We absolutely do NOT need a nuclear capable radical "N Korea" in the ME. And I don't care what anyone says, I firmly believe that he was actively pursuing weaponized nukes and was closer than anyone on this board knows. Iran would've been there 20 years ago if Israel hadn't said "screw you" to US and went ahead and bombed that Nuke facility in Iran. Pakistan and India are both already nuclear-capable and have warheads pointed at each other as we speak.

It is a scary world we live in. If we don't have the cojones to stand up and fight, we will be destroyed... That's the cold hard facts.
