It's just like a boat IMO.

Better to have a friend with a plane than to have one


It is pretty surreal though, the first time you drive up to one on the runway and hop out the car and on board and are wheels up in 10-15 minutes.

Yeah, it is. My wife's Mom was married to this guy for a short time. Back before they got married, we flew with him to Chicago for several days. His business owned it, and he used it to fly to these big conventions all over the place.

They sometimes flew up to Birmingham from south Alabama to visit. It was a really old plane, like late 80s model of something. It would seat 7 but we never had more than 5 people in it. The only downside was the weight restrictions. We couldn't fuel it all the way up and had to stop in Kentucky on the way up and way back to refuel. But driving to the little backside of the Birmingham airport, parking the car, and then being in the air 20 minutes later was great.

It was so small inside it felt like we were in a flying SUV. I think there's more room in my wife's Sienna than there was in that plane.

This. A good friend of mine is a pilot for a wealthy individual in LA. I've hitchhiked before.
