Disney memory maker...is it worth it?

Going in a few weeks and we're looking into this. This is our girls first real trip and want to make sure we have plenty of pictures (my wife and I are horrible about remembering to take a lot of pics).

Yes, it was one of the better things we purchased.
My kids still love watching the DVD of pictures.
You also get some great photos in the perfect locations.

Is this the "photo pass" thing?
We got that when we took the kids to the one in California recently.
The effects that they will put on the photos, and allow you to add digitally through your photo album, are pretty cool, such as the ability to do an overlay on the picture so it looks like a postcard signed by Minnie Mouse.
The quality of the photography when they take the kids' pictures varies wildly, as a number of the ones my daughter took with the princesses came out better when my wife did it on her personal camera than when the "official" photographer did it.
The pictures taken by the guys in certain facilities, like Mickey's house and Minnie's house, were decidedly better than the ones taken at the Princess reception area.

Yes. We're going back in October and we have the Memory Maker service again.

Absolutely. You get a ton more pics you wouldn't normally take including all the ride photos. Easy to use. They add in some "magic" to some photos. Everyone's always in the pictures.

yes, use it on rides, and take pics every time you see a cast member with a camera.

I'd do that for the pictures for sure, but I took movies every time we took kids and put them on tapes. The kids watched those over and over again. Some were of the complete shows they saw and some were just of them. They actually liked rewatching the shows and the fireworks more than themselves, especially the show at night with fireworks at MGM. That and the Little Mermaid show were the faves. I taped some of the rides like Peter Pan and they loved those too.

Just take out your phone and snap a picture of the card as soon as you get it.
That way, if it gets lost, you can recover the pictures.
Get multiple cards so everyone has one.
Does Disney track the pictures on the Magic Bands now?

You don't need the card anymore, it's attached to the magic band. Anyone linked to your MDE can use it.

Absolutely, we just got back last Saturday from a week long stay. On top of the pictures we took ourselves, we got an additional 250-300 pics on the memory maker. The photographers are plentiful and quick when taking the pics so it's not a big slowdown to your day. If you have little ones and are going to be standing in line to meet characters, you're going to want this.
We used a fast pass to watch to fireworks in MK and there was a photographer there that knew the show backwards and forwards. Since everyone was more interested in watching the show (obvious reasons) he let us know when the "big parts" were and had us set up in his view. We ended up with some REALLY nice fireworks pics.
Have fun! I wish I were going back again this week. That place is a blast!

Yes it is. Just remember to take advantage of the photographers stationed at what seems like every 100 feet or so. Some of the better rides (ex splash mountain) have cameras and you can only get those pictures if you get the photo thing. Also, the photographers take a lot of extra ones that you may not get.
A little known fact is that you can get the photographer to add in special effects - for example, we watched one take a picture of a kid who was holding his hand out like she was holding something. Turns out, they asked the photographer to add in a fairy (tinkerbell, I think) and it was made to look like she was holding the fairy. Pretty good stuff.

Thank you for setting me straight.

Sorry if that came across as argumentative. Just didn't want anyone to think they had to ask for it to get the extra pics.
Also, when you download the photos, you can add boarders and your own Disney stuff like characters.

Absolutely. Best value in Disney.

Yes, definitely. You get plenty of pictures with the whole family in it. Also, you don't have to bother asking someone else to take a picture with your camera.

The magic shots are a lot of fun. We always ask the photographer to do some with us. Our favorite was Stitch dropping ice cream.
You can also have the photographer take pictures with your own camera too. We always do that just incase the pictures don't come up in our account (which has happened) and we've had to contact Disney and they had to find them for us, but at least everything was on our camera too.
I also like the random pictures. We were watching one of the parades and afterwards a photographer came up to us and handed us a card. He had taken a lot of candid shots of my daughter and I. Some of the best memories.
