Banished: Ridiculously addictive city builder: ON SALE LINK ADDED

So The Forest left me bored with no real goals and the patch making the island pretty much vacant. I went ahead and picked up Banished which is all about building a city with a sustainable culture and economy. The variables are pretty extensive: Tools break, soil becomes less fertile, deer become scarce as you use more of the forest up, etc. If you're looking for a challenge along these lines it is a pretty good one. If anyone is playing this I'd love to discuss strategy. I've been using Reddit as of late.

That looks amazing, but I won't lie, my eyes glaze over when I see this:
I really want to get into these types of slow-paced, higher learning curve games, but with my smattering of available gaming time throughout the week lately, there's just not enough payoff.

Wow I really like the idea and look of this game. But I'm in the same boat as the quote above. Does this game lend itself to maybe an hour of game play per night? That's all I have time for right now.
Different type of game but I've all but given up on D3. I've subconsciously just quit playing. Not nearly enough time to pull any satisfaction from it with the time I have. I need something where I can sit down and frick shite up for an hour or two then move on with my bedtime routine. I feel like I'd get too caught up in this Banished game...?

It's fun and very hard. You'll have to play a few games before you really get the hang of it. But in general, it's a game where you will always fail in the long run and there is NO sense of progression. I'm waiting awhile before I play it again.

It looks like a game I'd like to play but the Let's Play I've watched of it has left me underwhelmed.

This is exactly my mindset. I love strategy games and games like these. I tried Banished and other similar games like Crusader Kings 2 and Hearts of Iron.

Apparently some people have gotten to the point where they can let it run 24/7 and it is self sustaining. It takes a lot of damn time though.

Does look addicting and in my wheelhouse.
And for everyone saying that there's too many windows, there's the same amount if you use any mod on Kerbal Space Program.

I bought the game but got bored with it after about 25 hours of gameplay

I watched SkyeStorme's Let's Play on this game - it looks fun but very heavy on the micromanaging. It also looks incredibly hard.
An aside - does anyone here play Tropico 4? That game looks like a lot of fun.

Love Tropico. 5 is pretty fun as well.
This game is a lot of micromanaging. One mistake can frick you way down the road and everyone dies. Yes, all those panels were just open for that shot. Finding the balance of population and resources can be grueling work.

I need to get a few more underage families going. I also like putting the 10 and 75 year old to work in the mines.

Its worth a torrent or purchase on sale. Don't waste much land with quarries, just buy stone from the river Jew.

I think I messed up there. I can't get my population up enough right now with out fricking something up.

pastures are a dependable food source. I usually max out chicken and beef. fishing helps get you through winter.
build a town hall and monitor food consumption with the graph and see how you do in the winter months. dont look at your food store in the summer and say "hey, I have lots of food, I can let my people frick forever" then starve them out in the winter.

That's one building I haven't messed with and guess I need to get on. I've tried to max out my hunting and gathering since it is an unlimited source as long as I don't clear cut the forest. Currently I have two chickens and one cattle in pasture. Need to split up the cattle. The only thing really killing me is iron. I need to purchase from the merchant I suppose. What few miners I have really don't produce shite.
