You can get a sensible house in a good area of Metairie for less than $175k. It won't be Old Metairie, but it won't be by apartments.

A lot of the mega houses near MCC are doctors/lawyers/entrepreneurs who did not come from wealthy families. I'm not saying these people grew up poor or anything, but I'd bet the vast majority come from middle class upbringings.
I'd just like to know how you know any of this. It sounds to me like you're talking completely out of your arse.

. We are a young couple(CPA and RN 26 year old) so we arent OT rich or poor. But unless you have money from family the NOLA area makes no sense for a couple in our position. There
You sound cheap tbh

Do you live in OM?

Do you have a link to some listings?

Let me guess, you need updated and over 1600 sqft.

Not anymore. I've been out of the house market for about 6 months. But what he's saying is absurd. And with their income, $175k should be the bottom end of their budget. going up to $200k finds you several options, or at least it did 6 months ago.

And you live in Nashville, and I assume away from all your family. You make cuts where you have to.

What was your budget if you don't mind me asking?

Well I'll say that living in OM for over 25 years you generally know who owns what, where they came from and what they do.
I never said there is no old money in OM. I just said the majority is first gen wealth. I was responding to the post that said OM is no place to live if you aren't old money. Anyone who lives in OM knows that that is not the case.
