I remember this game because of the insane weather. It was a day game in Oct, but it was sunny and very warm. I remember there wasn't a single cloud visible when TGBFTL got to our seats.

By the time we came down for Pregame, clouds rolled in and it stormed for a while, but by halftime the sky was clear again. So much so, that the band director had us ditch our raincoats and head down to march. Then another, much larger storm came through and hit hard before we got done marching. You'd be amazed how much water those damn uniforms can hold. I sat through MANY rainy games, but that was the worst, by far.

It poured the rest of the game. I'll never forget how bad the field was by the 4th quarter. I think 92 FSU is probably the only time it was in worse shape. There was so much water standing for so long that it killed most of the grass, and they had to re-sod the entire field over the open date.

I agree with everything, except that it didn't rain the entire 2nd half. You know how in Louisiana after a rain it just gets awfully humid and hot. This was probably the JP game, so it was mid-afternoon. Midway through the 3rd quarter it was miserable. So much so that my close friends, who always stayed from start to finish, left after the 3rd quarter. I remember getting back to my car and taking off my soaking wet pants and "porky pigging" it on the way home.

But you were right, it was hot and dry for the first half, but a freaking monsoon came down at halftime. I remember the players had to have been shocked coming out after halftime. Occasionally you will see some great highlights of Kevin Faulk being tackled in what looked like a lake.

Our time line computer says the Auburn kicker was Damon Duval and the game was played in Large Striped Feline Venue of Football Competition.

The UFO game...I think it was vs. Kentucky in '73 around Halloween. UFO sightings were a big topic then--Anyway, a wave of people on the SE side started looking over their shoulders and pointing out of the stadium to glowing objects hovering in the distance. Really caught a lot of attention.

I heard later some pranksters were launching small homemade hot air balloons from somewhere on campus.

Not sure if mentioned but USM game was in 1994 and we lost when LaFleur hit one fat from around 50 at the end...

It rained so much that day the lakes overflowed and you could only see the turtleback of the football field by the second half of the game.

One of the most memorable to me was the 1979 Bama game. Not as memorable as the USC game, obviously, but the weather was absolutely horrible.

Cold, around 40 degrees, and a moderate but steady rain. Stayed the whole game, we played them hard and lost 3-0.

1950s
my dad swears up and down that in the late 50's when Ole Miss would play in BR, that every year, Ole Miss would run around the entire stadium with a Rebel flag. When it got in front of the student section, frat stars of 50's would jump out of the student section, and commence to fighting cheerleaders for that flag. TigerTreyjpg

My dad told me stories like this back in the 50s...in fact he said he witness an Ole Miss fan that broke out a Rebel flag up in the stands in the student section...took the police to force there way in there to get him out and by the time they did he was beaten pretty good...

1990...I left the student section pretty fricked up after the win over Texas A&M and while waiting outside the stadium for friends to find me and drive my drunk arse home I seen this hare krishna running with the speed of Trindon Holiday from some frat guys that were yelling beat his arse...

SIAP - I searched a bit and didn't see this mentioned.

About 10 to 15 years ago (could have been the Auburn Eye Stomp game), when the opponent kicked an extra point into the North End Zone (remember - this was before the Allstate net), a student caught it and ran back with it toward the student section.

Remember also that this was pre-9/11/2001 and the stadium "security" in the NEZ consisted of only a few EBR parish deputies and even fewer stadium ushers.

The student was able to throw the ball up into the student section without being stopped by security. Another student caught it, and the student section immediately started pointing at the top of the stadium.

The ball was thrown up again, and the third student that caught it threw it up and out of the stadium!

Y.A. Tittle's pants lose game to Ole Miss in 1947.

quote:

Y.A. headed for the end zone when an Ole Miss player trying to make the tackle reached for him and broke the belt holding up his pants. Rebel players began to close in and at the 20-yard line he had to switch arms holding the ball so that he could use his stiff arm. While changing the ball from right arm to left, his pants began to fall allowing the Rebel pursuit to catch up with him. He was tackled at the Ole Miss 18-yard line.

The Tigers couldn’t muster as much as a field goal on the drive and lost the game. “We lost 20-18,” Tittle said. “My pants lost the game.”

Tennessee 2005. I was watching Tennessee disembark from the bus and when Phat Phil stepped off a fan dangled a Krispy Kreme from a fishing pole inches from his face as he walked toward the stadium.

Needless to say, he was furious.

Funniest shite I have ever seen. Only in Tiger Stadium. lol

Early 90's against #1 FSU. We sucked of course but 1st or 2nd play is a long TD to Kinchen and then the hardest rain I've ever been in a tiger stadium commenced. I was in the student section and you could not see the SEZ. Water was rushing down so fast it was knocking people down

Yeah, 91 I think; but what about the 1988 fiasco vs Miami when a similar monsoon arose while Steve Walsh and Cleveland Gary were romping in the rain!

Yeah, around the late 90s and early 2000s instead of throwing extra point balls back to the opposing student managers, students started passing the ball up the student section and over the top.

I remember watching pregame field goals, and the opposing teams ball boys had to wait for students to throw the balls back. One game students started throwing them way to the left or way to the right to make the ball boys chase them. Once somebody pump faked left, the ball boy bit on the fake an the ball was thrown to the right. The entire student section busted out laughing.

Probably not an all time great moment, but a good time nonetheless.

Auburn Eye stomp/ duval vs band game, after the onside kick and after we scored on that drive, on the ensuing ko, the returner got knocked the frick out. Why do I remember? I was in the auburn section in the sez and my brother ( a bammer) stood up after the hit and gave the guy a standing 8 count. The aubies were pissed. As the game progressed he did many more obnoxious things to rustle war eagle jimmies. Then toward the end of the game auburn fans were talking about how shitty lsu fans were and he stood up and peeled his pull over off to reveal a bammer shirt and yelled roll tide. What a douche. It was pretty hilarious though.

In 2000, the students were storming the field after every win and tearing down the goal posts. So the LSU staff greased the goal posts one game, with Vaseline I think, but the determined students still got them down. Finally, Lsu put about 30 cops around both goal posts. After the game the students rushed the field while the cops made a wall around the goal posts. Some dude was up on the shoulders of a couple guys on a group of about 20 or so guys. He's yelling something to them and then levels his arm in a pointing motion toward the goal posts. The kids charge and get absolutely beat down by the cops in about ten seconds flat. It was awesome to watch that season from the student section.
