Based on early season results and not preconceived bias?

1. Oregon
2. Texas A&M
3. USC
4. LSU
5. Florida State
6. Georgia
7. Alabama
8. Oklahoma
9. Michigan State
10. Wisconsin
11. Oklahoma State
12. Brigham Young
13. Baylor
14. Auburn
15. Stanford
16. Notre Dame
17. UCLA
18. Mississippi
19. Virginia Tech
20. West Virginia
21. Marshall
22. Tennessee
23. Kansas State
24. Arizona State
25. South Carolina

Removed: Ohio State and Texas
Added: Virginia Tech and South Carolina

Just because Michigan State lost in Eugene doesn’t mean the Spartans aren’t worthy of the No. 9 ranking. Based on what we know thus far, common sense indicates that 90 or 95 percent of the teams in major college football would also lose in Eugene by a wide margin.

1. I view Oregon’s 19-point win over Michigan State and USC’s win at Stanford as higher-quality victories than LSU’s neutral-field escape over Wisconsin.

2. South Carolina’s bounce-back against East Carolina prompted me to grade Texas A&M’s win as ever-so-slightly more impressive than LSU’s victory over Wisconsin.

USC does not look like a top ten team to me. Stanford gave that game away.

Solid, but I think Georgia's win over Clemson is much more impressive than LSU's win over Wisconsin.

No. Wisconsin at 10 after seeing the Big 10 undressed yesterday? LSU at 4 is silly, even I could admit that. Auburn is too low. So is ND.

How can you possibly have any kind of ranking at this point WITHOUT preconceived bias?

How do you know? They've only played 2 games. You are using preconceived bias that it's "Oregon", and thus they must be good.

Rankings before Oct 1 are dumb and should not exist

And apparently also over Georgia's defeat of Clemson. Which is pretty absurd.

What "early season results" would justify this?

Not even close. LSU way too high and so is USC.

Looks to me as it's biased based on teams who have played high ranked opponents regardless of win/loss (like Wisconsin and Mich State).

LSU is just right, but FSU is still #1.

Using this qualifier, I don't see how a team with a loss could be ranked ahead of any undefeated team.

LSU at 9 or 10 seems perfect at the moment. Still enough respect but not too much hype.

Hell no.

USC doesn't deserve to be top 10 and neither does LSU.

Who came up with that retarded list.
